You can custom order a Velo blocker w/out the binding. I did.

On another note, I asked about getting the V3 blocker bindingless and Vaugn USA told me that they have not tried to do it yet. It would be a little different since they got rid of the zipper and went to lacing at the top.
EDIT: For those who were wondering why Vaughn is still carrying the V2. I was told that they are keeping it b/c in their eyes it is still a great pad and that is the only way you can still get a Velo w/ the swoosh graphics. Also, the V3 is only available in 11" width and I guess you could still get the V2 in 12".

Not only is the graphic different, but the V3 has a taller stock thigh rise, squared up, denser foams in areas, and a more open leg channel. The V2 is really a different pad if you consider all that.

What I don't understand is their numbering/naming system. The V2 is 7000 and the Epic is 8000. Does this mean that Vaughn is trying to promote the Epic as their best pad? The Velocity is their staple pad, why name the Epic series 8000.
And now the V3 is here, which is 7500, like in between the V2 and the Epic. Why not call the V3 9000? I just don't get it.

They are under his hockey socks. Look at photos a page or so back. Nobody's knees (not even Chakal's) are that bulky or round.

I'm guessing they call them 7500 because they are almost Velocity 2.5, which would be 7500.
Also, I'm not sure why everyone can't believe that they are still going to produce the V2's anymore. It's probably their best selling pad ever and they realize that not everyone is going to like the new graphic.

That, plus the V3 will only be available in 11", where you can still custom order the V2 in 12".

I think the other difference is it appears not to have the extra stitching on the white section of Theo's blocker.

I think the naming system is just for something to call them. basically all vaughns canadian made products are the same level of quality. Like an epic isnt any better then a velocity its just a different style. So the number sytem is just for labeling purposes not quality purposes like rbk.

But I do think that its worth noting that they call the V3 '7500', maybe an indication that they don't consider it a big enough change/step forward from the V2 to call it '9000'

well the velocity line is never going to be hugely changed just minor improvements. When vaughn designs a new pad they give it a new name hence why the Epic was never called the vision or legacy. Im rather happy they kept the v2 though I was a little worried that my barely used pads would have a resale value of like 500 bucks but since they kept it on I can get more for them when I go to sell them in like august
