Based on your measurement and the koho guide you should be wearing 33.5" kohos.

and or

34"ccm blockade with 7 1/2" thigh rise stock,

and or

34" ccm gatekeeper with 8 1/4" thigh rise stock.

and or

34" tps summits with 10.5" thigh rise stock

and or

34" tps xceed with 10" thigh rise stock

=================================
What you have to understand is that there are no set standard for sizing.

Of course all these people like to confuse you with how much they "think" they "know".

so, a 34" ccm gatekeeper is like a tps xceed 34" - 1.75 (as the board calls it "negative"thigh rise")

I wear small pads...

I'm 5'11" and wear tradition-style 32" pads.
But...I don't butterfly, and if i did-, I'm not sure I'd last long!
As many of the guys have said, it's about what YOU feel comfortable in- not what the numbers add up to, or what a chart says.

Bainer.

Thank you for all the info, on my next set i will try a larger pad at least a 34 from a 32. I am old school standup and occasional butterfly when i can see and need to just cover the bottom of the net.

but mostly a stand up goalie.

I did get used to the sliding toe bridge ( no more toe strap) and the knee pillows
of the new pads as well at the thigh riser guard things.

so at least i am now used to modern pads.

those RBK look so nice

Jim,

I am 5-10 with an ATK of 17.5. I tried on a set of 34" RBK in the store, with my pants and skates. Kneeling down on the pads, my knee was in the center of the knee cradle. For some odd reason, when I b-flied my knee was hitting toward the bottom of the landing gear, even when i tightened up the straps. I could probably use the 34", but my choice, if I had the option, would be for a 33+1. Since I was close, and you have an extra half inch, it would be worth it to take the time to go try on a set in the store.

I'm 5'10" with an 18.5" ATK and I am wearing 36" pads. At first I thought they looked way too big, but when I strapped them on and butterflied, they were perfect. I hope this helps. Oh and I'm wearing Itech X Factors.

You should be in a 34 or 35" pad with your ATK measurement. Anything +1 or +2 is also reasonable for closing the 5 hole.

A 32" at 5 foot 10" with your ATK of 17.5 is too small for sure.

It will take two on ice sessions to get use to the newer length.

I have your measurements exactly and I use a 35" Vaughn V1 or a 34 (size M) Eagle Fusion. Otehr pads I have had include Matrix 1's at 34", 580's at 34", Reactor 3's at 34 " and DS p2K's at 34".

I'm 5'9" with an ATK of 18".

I'm in 35" ********* ULs and they work fine for me although I would like to have +1 or +2 on the rise to close up my five-hole.

I just measured and my pads say 32 but are really 33 and the thigh boards go 3 inches over does that mean i bought a 32+3
which really is a 33+3
this thigh board option is what makes it seem like that pads are correct size.

when they say +3 they mean the thighboard correct?
cheers
Jim

Nope, the +(x) refers to extra height added to the stock pad on the thigh rise, the area above the knee rolls/area on your pad. The big trend nowadays is to add to thigh rises to block up the five hole. If you had, say, a set 33" of Vaughn Velocities with two inches added to the thigh rise above the stock size, they'd be considered a 33+2 pad. Plus to thigh rise really has no effect on how the knee area of the pad will fit on you. Also, manufacturers sizes are not all the same. As has been covered here before, try pads on somewhere before you buy, you never really know how they'll fit on you.

Hi Jim,
I'm only 5'6" (ATK 16.5) and I wear a 34 + 2 (basically 36) in my bauers, but they are a more traditional style pad.
I just got 32" Mission (box style pad) and they feel almost too big. The size pad you can get away with will depend alot on the style pad and your style of play.

You being 4" taller than me, I'd be willing to bet you'd do fine
Geeze...those 34's must almost come up to your neck eh?
