5-10" Goalies What size pads do you wear?

I just read the ladies thread about gear and most are wearing 32+
i grew up poorer than dirt so my pads were always short on me.
and my hero at the time Don Edwards seemed to have short pads so i didnt sweat it. But boy o boy did i replace the plastic front pieces of my pants. constantly cracked.
Anyhow. now i just bought new pads 32 inch and i like em i am comfortable in them.

But i am curious should I have tired 34 or even 36 inchers?
what do you guys/gals that are 5-10" wear?
my ankle to knee is 18 inches
floor to knee 20 inches
i have heard both measures hear on the board.

i like these pads but i think they would be too big.

cheers
Jim

I'm 5'11 but that is only an inch above you. I got 35" Smiths. My FTK is 20.5 inches so we are pretty close there. Talking with Pete he said i could go anywhere from a 34-36 inch pad so i went in the middle. To quote so many people here - go to a store that carries the brand of pads you want and see what fits and what is comfortable. If they are being custom made then talk with the person making them. I know Pete was awesome on the phone.

with my ankle to knee at 17.5 " I use BHG's which at 34" . I also came from a really short pads, but have learned to adapt to my larger pads. At the start , I was so worried, being at like 5'8" , but my knee fits perfect in the cradle.

By "standard" sizing you should be in 34-35" pads of most manufacturers, + whatever on the thighrise. 32" seems tiny, but then again I am 5'10.5", ATK = 17.5 and I use 34+2 Vorteks.

If you are comfortable in your pads, and you feel that you play the best with a smaller pad then "standard" sizing may not really matter in your case.

Yes, time for you to tell him to "buy custom pads", then ask for "the thread to be locked/deleted" and then call out for the "ban-hammer".

Like clockwork......

Hi Jim,
I'm only 5'6" (ATK 16.5) and I wear a 34 + 2 (basically 36) in my bauers, but they are a more traditional style pad.
I just got 32" Mission (box style pad) and they feel almost too big. The size pad you can get away with will depend alot on the style pad and your style of play.

You being 4" taller than me, I'd be willing to bet you'd do fine

I'm 5'11" and wear a 33+1 V2. ATK is 18" i think. I could maybe wear 34+1 but didn't want to risk it, since I've always worn 33" pads and have been comfortable in them.

Im 5'11 and I wear 34' CCM Blockades, what I notice is that my butterfly is completely exploited, so I would rather get 34 + 1.
