I will try using velcro on them myself and see how it works.

The pads above are supposed to be like Koho 580's. I would like to see more pics once he puts them up.

Hey Hunster,

I already put velcro on my knee stacks. Worked like a charm. James if you read this, make velcro standard on your knee stacks .

Ive been trying to get ahold of VHI all day. My gloves should be ready for shipment and i wanted to give them my card number so they can be paid for and shipped

Anyone know of anything going on up there? No power or something? I know they got some nasty weather right now.

I'm not sure either, I've got an order placed and prod. time booked, and I've sent a few emails dating back to last week, and no response. I called a few times, and once it rang through to no answer, the other times it was busy.

Might be the weather, who knows.

my gear!!

Well, now that I have used my stuff for a few months, I thought I would give an update. I don't have any new pics, but everything still looks new anyway!!

Glove...

I am STILL trying to break this glove in. By far, the hardest glove to break IMO. Thay being said the protection in great. The only thing I don't like about it is the outside flap. I keep in undone as I find it much too tight around my forearm.

Blocker...

Best blocker I have ever owned. I like everything about it. I wouldn't change a thing.

Pads...

I really love these pads. There are a couple of things I will change when I order my new set though...
- All leather straps. James missed this on my order...I don't like the plastic bucle things!! (he did offer to fix it FOC though!! Great guy that James...great guy!)
- A stiffer lift for the calf(Like the V2's)
- single strap on the boot(this was a custom mod I made and I don't really use the second strap)

Over all great gear!

CC,

What is it you don't like about the quick-release buckles? Just the idea in general, or was there a specific problem with yours?

What stiffness did you specify - soft, medium or stiff? What pads were you previously using?

My pads are supposed to be going into production in a few days, and I still haven't decided between soft and medium.

Thanks!

Rod

Rod, I didn't spec any stiffness. They were pretty stiff though....actually still are. That being said, after two or three times on the ice, they felt great.

As for the buckles, I had them on my previous set (Battram Cyclones) and one broke from a slash. Really, I think it's more just a personal preference. I wanted leather with holes right to the end of the strap. I like to play around with the tension on all straps....with the buckles, it's a pain in the ass.

Well, James is alive and well, got an email from him yesterday. Just busy, which is a good thing! Rod's pads go into production first, then mine, so get your stuff figured out Rod!

I'll be going medium with the calf lift, and I love them quick release buckles, even though I never thought I would. When I got my Litespeeds and adjusted them properly, there was no turning back.

Dre,

I take it you're going with the full leg channel..?

Full

Open

I've got about 24 hours to make up my mind. I feel comfortable with both, but since I've gotten used to the Velo-style setup of my Prodigies, I'm leaning towards the full.

I don't imagine there'd be too much of a weight difference, would there? Any differences in durability?

i have the full leg set up with knee and calf lock. I feel that the full leg setup gives you more support and it just feels a bit more comfy and solid and less floppy even when i have the straps on pretty loose.

Not going ahead and ordering some Smith's?

Is it the wait/

Rod,

I'll be going full leg channel. It's what I've always had, and feels snug and comfy. I've only ever tried RBK's once, but it just felt too loose for me, even though I wear my pads loose, it just doesn't feel right.

Duffman,

I have Smiths. I bought Chak's set, and I must say they are gorgeously built and the craftmanship is second to none, however, I'm having trouble making them work with my pants. I got rid of the thighboard and have finally gotten lace-in knee pads, so I'll be taking them out for a spin soon, and I'm really hoping they'll work out well for me. Cross your fingers, unless you want a next to new set of Smith's in a 32+4/33+3/34+2.

Looks James has been busy with some new things.

He has a new thin profile pad (C-10ish) and blocker called Evolution series as well as a new classic pad to go with the trapper.

Jeez, I still can't decide. I like the looks of the bricks in the stance and down positions, but not standing straight up. Here's another batch. I'm seriously running out of time, though.

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

Thoughts, anyone? I'm leaning slightly towards 2 and 4/5.

Those Evolutions are interesting... I'm wondering whether 1) I can change my order and 2) I want to.
