While I got a second here I want to post some interesting things I have seen/heard throughout running this raffle, some are funny, some are dumb, and some are just cool facts. Everyone will remain anonymous for obvious reasons
Interesting 1st annual (Yes I'll do this again!) JS benefit facts;
Over 300 people contacted me on donating
217 people actually donated/bought patches
2 mfg/companies actually paid for their patches AFTER they gave a really nice donation
7 people tried to get free patches for some reason or another
At least 1 Pro/semi pro goalie bought patches
The Avalanche goalies have JS patches! (Still waiting on a pic)
The JS patches are still being broadcast across the internet for sale (MTA Thanks!)
I am packaging several patches (over 75) to be sold in local hockey shops, and in the Toronto area
2 mfg promised donations and then ignored me when I replied multiple times, and called them
I have over 100hrs of work into this benefit (worth 1000 more!)
Patches went out to 4 different countries (US, Canada, Britian, Scotland)
I hate addressing envelopes! and hate licking them even worse!
A local high school is donating their entire fund raiser to this cause, and they bought 30 patches
2 other people were instrumental in this fund raiser getting donations and designing the patch (You two know who you are, thanks a TON)
One person won a prize 8 times, yep 8 times, I had to keep redrawing
One GSBB member bought 20 patches (and raffles) !
And finally, we get to hear the happiness and see our friend go on, cause a bunch of people who have no clue who each other are, pulled together to do something great for once instead of bickering! WAY TO GO GSBB!!!

Maybe I read this wrong, but are you advocating that if a company wasn't a part of this raffle and was in the catergory of declined/no reply, we shouldn't give them our business? If that's the case, I think that's a little harsh and wrong. This raffle wasn't made to start a manufacturer war and start boycotting products.

Point well taken....it was a raffle and people had a choice to go in it and also donate something....Vann said 217 people bought and donated patches and according to this board there are 5513 members....so what are we supposed to do ? Ignore all those that didn't go in raffle or buy a patch ???? Doesn't work that way......just let it go and be happy....for Jim and whatever cause the extra money is going too. Everybody that did get involved, did a real good thing and that's it.....end of story.... IMO

I am suggesting that if you have a choice of brand A or brand B
and to choice brand A if they dontated; over brand B if they did not.
Harsh.. No.. why. Because my statement is nothing more than support those who support you.
So, that being said.. there is nothing wrong with checking out who supported you before buying. And yes giving them your business over a company that didnt.
It is basically what happens every single day in business.. why buy a certain brand of car? Because it keeps my next door neighbor, brother, uncle, working.
Over another brand.
Again, i am just stressing to support those that gave. Because without them.. the raffle wouldnt have been a raffle..
Cheers
Jim

I really don't want to make this bigger than it is, but I really don't think manufacturers donated with a hope that they'd look like the good guy over their competitors so they'd get more business. I think they donated out of the goodness of their hearts but no one had to donate so I wouldn't blackball them just because they weren't on the list.
I'm in 100% agreement to support those who donated but don't assume just because someone didn't donate that they are bad or any less than anyone else.

All in all this charity served a GREAT purpose. it raised a community together for a good cause and the one who everything was done for is doing better and is back on the ice. It is a great day all around.
Some of us were lucky enough to have won something from the raffle (my first ever paint job!!!) but nothing could be better then jim's victory with his health.
congrats in everything jim. I think you showed more strength in facing this life altering event then most will ever see their entire life.

I think that was me who won 8 times and I'm pretty sure I also bought 20 patches. I actually have almost finished putting them on all my jerseys and the leftovers I will probably hand out.

Ok all the stick winners.... I apologize they haven't been shipped yet, they are wrapped and addressed now, and will go out Monday ASAP.
Amidst all this raffle and donation stuff, I am going through a breakup, (well maybe a breakup, but at least a break from each other for a while) in which we need to finish remodeling our house to sell, and that pretty much takes all my time in between my jobs and hockey.
So once again sorry, they will be sent out Monday 1st thing

Don't sweat that at all. You did a really good thing with this, no reason for you to be sorry.
