i was reading that the heaton 10 was successful because of the deep leg channel but from all the pics i've seen they look shallow and the pad itself looks pretty straight.

from anyone that has had any heaton products, does the pad keep its form or does it end up like those old vaughn with the knee pads spilling out because they've softened up so much?

Be sure to indicate exactly what you want in a blocker. For a while I think both of BHG's models were exactly the same. He sent me an eyelite 10 that was exactly the same as a eyewall 5 (old koho/lefevre clone). So I had to send it back to him and he remade it for me. If you look on his site, both blockers look the same. But now I think the 10 is like what I have in these pics, and the 5 is the old koho style.

I just contacted BH about sending my glove back and having a pro palm added or order a new glove with a pro palm. I love everything about the glove except it is extremely thin in the palm area (which makes it so easy to break in) and if I misread a shot and it misses the pocket by an inch or two it hurts like a mofo! I had this issue with the L3000 but I was young and tough (stupid ). I need my hands more these days and still face heavy shots so I am going to try and protect my mits as much as possible.

EDIT: My glove is on its way back to BH. He is going to repalm it with a pro palm.
He told me its a feature he offers and he thinks he will add it to his site. I enjoyed speaking with him via email ...again.

Hmm....

I like that design on the blocker - more than the designs on his template. Now, is this a custom graphic you wanted? Or is this a graphic he had a WHILE back?

I was talking to Brian, and I let him know that the original designed just didn't look good and sent him my idea of how it should be and he liked it. I don't know why it's not on his website, but I just don't think his site is managed well, IMO.

What pad did you choose?

Sounds like yours will be put into production just days after my set is completed!

Good to see another goalie join the BHG ranks!

Brian has been nothing but amazing to work with in the process of designing my gear.

I recently got a pair of Itech 9.8 Prodigy pads in a trade (old design similar to the V2)...and I had Mr Heaton add some of the features of the 9.8 into my upcoming Eyelite 10s in an attempt to build my ultimate pad...super flexible pad for standup/mobility but with more modern butterfly friendly knee/calf setups

As a kid, I remember always loving every piece of Heaton gear I saw the pros and college guys wearing, so it's just an awesome feeling knowing that the same guy is building my gear

Just spoke with Brian today on the phone and must say that talking to him is like talking to a friend you have known for years. He knows tons about hockey and wants to make sure you are happy with his gear.

Looks like I'll be calling him later this year for a set of Eyelite 10's (pads & gloves).

He was a little edgy about setting me up with some 10's because they are a more traditional pad which is a hard fit with kids my age (15-18) who have learned to butterfly but I told him how I hate butterflying and how I always lose sight of the puck and like to stand-up rather than go down.

Sounds like a good deal for me because I have felt FORCED for the past few years to butterfly because that was the feel that pads give you today and I prefer a secure, tight feel against your leg.

Hopefully I'll join the BHG family pretty soon.

Heaton 5 remake? Let me know how you like it, I'm thinking about getting a H5 clone myself.

Can't play yet, nursing a knee injury. But I love the fit and feel. I put up a first impressions thread on GoalieBoard if you want more info.

That does look nice man!

Looks similar to a Heaton 5, not his current for sure.

I dig the stuff so far, no concerns with either breakdown or performance.

The custom fit is mint, and he is cool to talk to, I spoke with him a lot for all my purchases.

Now, I have nothing left to get from him, unless I stab my wife, get the insurance money, and get a set of Eyelite 10 pads. (I like my 5's , but always room for more)
