I dig the stuff so far, no concerns with either breakdown or performance.

The custom fit is mint, and he is cool to talk to, I spoke with him a lot for all my purchases.

Now, I have nothing left to get from him, unless I stab my wife, get the insurance money, and get a set of Eyelite 10 pads. (I like my 5's , but always room for more)

Maybe he could build you a new wife while he's at it?

Here's my new C/A:

It's a H5 remake in the new pro sizes. I haven't worn it yet as i recieved it today. The thing is beautiful, it seems a bit short compared to my brown but i tried tucked in, under my suspenders and it feels wonderful. I'll write a review on it after awhile of use.

production day nears

Yep....construction of my pads and blocker will commence on the 5th!

It's too bad that Mr Heaton doesn't clone old pant designs. I'd really like an updated set of my current H8 pants.

From all your photos and reviews here, it seems BHG products really stand above and beyond

I asked him maybe 3 times for pants, and always was a no go.

Perhaps custom pants are too much trouble compared to other products, or maybe it's the materials.

Brian told me that the stretchy crotch material alone is more expensive than any of the other materials that go into making pants. Also, he told me that he views the pants market as being rather saturated with more than enough affordable products.

All in all..too bad for me and all the other fans of older Heaton pants.

So...the question now arises, who clones pants?

Thanks for that tip

When the day comes that my H8s fall apart, I'll be sure to contact our host. I'm learning quickly (to my wallet's dismay) that custom is the way to go

do you reckon he has the "blueprints" of how the gatekeeper is made? would it be an insult to ask him to custom, make a copy of them if he didnt have any input in ?

if i'm understanding your question correctly-

I'm assuming you want the heaton 10 pad with a gatekeeper graphic?

If so, the only thing you will get out of Brian is the heaton 10 pad ( called the eyelite 10 just renamed ) with his own graphic.

I tried to get the H10 pad with the vector graphics and he refused to do it. It was more of a curious question to see if he would stitch a vector graphic on. No biggie for me though since the stock graphic on his pad is similar to the old H10 graphic with maybe a bit of a vector graphic in the mix ( thats what it looks like to me )

if you want a plain old CCM gatekeeper pad ( the flat faced pad) he doesn't make them- CCM does.

I hope I understood you correctly!

he is a great guy to work with and I'm sure he will accomodate you as much as possible. As for the graphics though- He can't copy another company's design.

In my opinion, he would probably lose a smidge of respect. kind of like DON ******'s pads. they're a FAT rip off on designs from vaughn and koho 590's ( when they were around ).

anyway- lets not skip off track--- just wanted to throw in my .02 cents on that last sentence*

BHG pads rule ';'

NICE C/A !!!! When I talked to Brian before ordering my C/A he had said that he had made a white one and it looked nice. It's nice to finally see one.
I know that Brian is hesitant to put names on C/A's and this is a nice example of where he would place it if so requested.
I don't know about you guys that are ordering now, but those wrist tabs on the velcro closure were not there when I ordered mine.
It is nice to see that he has incorporated them into the design.

I recently spoke to Brian about sending my C/A for some after purchase "tweaks"
I have only used it a few times since I still love my Pro 90Z that I got from an IHL goalie years ago. I have asked him to change the back straps (I have the old single big elastic) to just what you see in the pic. The double nylon backstrap.
The chest (wings?) are two piece (Eyelite) and I have asked him to sew them together so that they don't flip up. These pics have given me the idea to go ahead and ask for those wrist closure tabs.
It's going to cost to get these post production "mods" done, but I really like the C/A and don't mind doing it.
As soon as I get my camera back I will post some pics of my Eyewall set after a year of wear. They aren't marked up a lot, since I let in more than I stop. But I love everything about the entire set. The blocker and glove are keepers.
If I had not ordered a set of 585's from Duke's because the KOHO name was going away. I would have grabbed another set of BHG's except it would have been the Eyelite 10's. Maybe next year!
