They look great, as do all Vortek gloves... What made you decide to invert the colors on the glove and blocker?

Well... I was thinking that I wanted white in the palm area of the glove to see the puck better. I like the way they turned out, but I think they may have looked better if the catcher was predominantly blue. That's what my pads will eventually look like.

Can you bend the top corners of your thigh boards ? The thigh boards on my one year old Vortek's are very rigid and thicker than the boards on my new Oracles.

my new thighboards are very stiff...there is no way they will bend, which is what I want....hopefully that helps, anything else, please PM me.

Reviews

Why so few reviews on this stuff?
Seems like quite a few people have gotten their gear.

Here's my mini-review--

At first I was pretty skeptical of the trapper. I felt like the fingertip area was just too far out. Not the break, but how I feel my fingers "wrap around" something as if I'm grabbing the glove itself. It now feels like a natural curve to my fingers, and very comfortable. Keep in mind I had been using my T4000 for almost 6 years.

I'm now totally in control with this glove. I can have pucks hit my heel area and still go into the pocket. I've yet to have a single popout with this glove, even while playing ball hockey. The angle of the pocket/thumb area are great. Everything deflects right into the web. This glove is the lightest most balanced I've ever felt. I can honestly say I hardly can tell I've even got it on my hand.

Yes i must agree that the glove feels natural on you hand, but to make it feel even more natural and better for stick handling i curved in the circumfrance of the glove a little. Yes i know i loose some coverage but makes the glove better for stick handling and more natural than before.

I am getting ready to place my order for the set from Vortek. Quoted 10 weeks I believe and the cost for the set was only 1199.99 Cant beat that price. Our team uses the Montreal colors, so I will have to pick those out asap.

I like your gloves.

I wonder if Vortek will do FULL NHL Regulation glove, because i asked for this years regulation from Colonial but just got an Intermediate with pro palm, which the cuff is smaller than NHL Regulation, also ask to get a bindingless cuff? I wonder. I shall ask him, wanted to point this out.

They do make an NHL regulation trapper and blocker.

Bindingless cuffs are not an easy piece to manufacture either.

Don't forget this new retail friendly company is in the process of training their new employees in an industry that they likely have never had any experience in.

Dave and Glenn are very passionate that every piece of gear is done to Dave's expectations or it won't leave the factory, period!

This company has to learn to walk before it can run so it makes it 5, 10, 50 years down the road.

I hope to give a bit of a review once I've had the chance to use them on the ice some.

As for initial impressions, they are very nice. The blocker is great, very comfortable. It reminds me a little bit of the RBK pro blocker. The catcher is very different than what I am used to right now. I have been using the Vaughn 3500/5500 series for about 10 years. The break on the VK5 is more out to the fingers while my Vaughns were across the palm. It's very comfotable on your hand. The VK5 looks a lot bigger than my Vaughn, the perimeter is similar, maybe slightly bigger, while the pocket is probably an inch or two deeper. The Vorteks also feel lighter than my Vaughn glove and blocker which are about 4 years old.

My wife says I'm like a kid wearing his new glove around the house. I can't wait to try them out!
