Me too, I gotta ask for more days because they keep only scheduling me for one day.
Also, if you do buy the skates, remember, baking, punching out, and proper fitting will also make the skate feel better. I couldn't try on any of those because I wear a size 10 (yeah, I know, HUGE).

Does anyone know if they use different cowlings for wide and regular skates? I was told they're the sames but I was trying to switch a pair last night and the holes just don't line up. I measured the holes to see how far apart they were, on the ones underneath the balls of the feet they differed by about a 1/2 inch, the back ones still lined up perfectly.

Is this a good deal?

I was looking to get graf skates. I found a pair locally and he wants to let em go for 200 USD. I'm going to take some practice sessions with them but is this a good deal given the quality? I was told he purchased them for 600 USD or so.

There is mainly rusting on the blade, but if figure a sharpening and a stone will remove most of the rust right? There is some slight yellowish stain on the cowling but I figure that could easily be cleaned off.

Wear them for a good skate before deciding to buy. Most people I know who own Grafs only sell them because they aren't comfortable any more. The foam in the inside ankle tends to break down.

If they are comfortable, negotiate your best price and go for it. If the cowlings are a concern, you could just put new cowlings (less than $100.00 for the pair) on them and they will look and feel brand new.

The boot itself looks OK from the outside, unless the guy treats the boot the same as his blades...

$200 is a lot to be asking for a boot that was molded to someone else's foot, though. And Jabber's right - the foam padding does harden up quite a bit after a while in Grafs.

The foam breaking down is exactly why I don't have foam in the ankles of my Graf's.

I tried them out for a quick skate (with no gear) and they felt muchmore comfortable thenmy rbks. I did get a blister on my right heel but I wasn't wearing the socks I normally do. I was going to heat these up, laceemup and walk around in them to form em to my foot and then try em out this weekend. My main concern was the rust on the blade. I don't like how it looks and I don't want to know these rusted through and they don't function properly when sharpened.

200 is a lot to be asking for those. I just sold a pair for 60+shipping that look in a lot better shape than that.

By the way....if anyone is ordering Graf G-50s, the sizing is in fact slightly different. I used to wear a 750 with a 9.5W. The G-50s run about 1/2 size smaller so I ended up with a 10W G-50. It's a nice skate!

wow, that's really cheap! I wish I bought mine off you!

I picked up mine locally for 140...and I thought it was a steal :S. I guess I'm just a n00b to skates.

I have removed most of the rust.I am surprised at how well sand paper took it off.

What i didn't remove was groupings of dark dots. Are these spots where the rust has gone deeper or what?

Also any tips for cleaning off the cowling. I going to use water and soap and try a magic eraser.

Unfortunately I think once metal starts to rust, there's no way to prevent rust from happening again...so those dark spots probably are where the rust has dug deeper into

I've used magic eraser on my gear before, man that stuff cleans everything
