"Official" Brian's thread

There is a "official" thread for every other brand. If there is already a thread for this please delete. I searched and couldn't find one.

I will get i started. I am just about to place an order for dx2 pads with
-all nylon leg channel
-+2
-all nylon straps except boot strap
-theif knee setup
-no graphics on calf
-hd foam on inside gusset to promote sliding
-jenpro in boot channel
-pro suffed
-thinned out thigh
-pro spec
I'm still not sure if i'm going to get the thief calf setup.
Also getting thief glove and blocker. Only mods are dx2 cuff on glove and pro palm.

That is a laundry list of mods you are getting.

Three questions:

1. By "pro suffed" do you mean more or less padding in some areas?

2. What benefit will you get from a "thinned out thigh" ?

3. Do you really notice much drag from graphics on the calf?

1.By getting it pro stuffed it will make it lighter but it usually makes it easier to break down.

2. I cross my pads in my stance. I play a low wide stance a little bit like lundy. Getting it thinner just reduces the hang up.

3. I have never had a pad with graphics in this spot. My view is just that nothing good comes from it. I don't really know if it will inhibit sliding that much but i'm guessing the stiching will eventually wear out.

Ah,

Thank you much.

I figured if you were getting so many mods you would have some good reasoning for them.

I went from old Vaughn's leg pads (no calf graphic) to a barely used custom beast set (previous original owner seemed to have several mod's done to the pads) that has "Brian's" sewn into the calf - personally I have noticed no effect to my slides.

As for the crossover that effects me too - the tops of my Beast's are pretty thin but I can understand you wanting less area to hang up on.

I was going to start one of these up today as there was not an "Offical" Brian's thread. Just need to get the title change to "Offical" Brian's, not Brians. Here is all the Brian's stuff I have.
-35+3 Garth Snow Pro return DX2 pads
-Garth Snow Spec'd DX2 Glove
-Garth Snow Spec'd DX2 Blocker
-Thief NHL Spec'd chest & arm
-Brian's thigh board
-Brian's shirt ( they gave it to me when I got the pads from them)
All the Snow stuff is NHL spec'd, but it's right at the max. size alound. I custom ordred the gloves and ask for the exact same gloves Garth wore while playing the last year on the Isles., and got what I had asked for. The pads are real pro returns right from the team. When I emailed Brian's thanking them for making the gloves for me, I told them them I would be ordering the pads next. Karen emailed me back stating that I did not have to order the pads, as they got a box back from the Isles with his pads in them. I could find any Brian's store I wanted and they would send them there. When I opened up the box at the store I picked, inside was the T shirt from Brian's. The Brian's thighboards are much smaller then any I used, they are 9"X8",so they are not really oversized like some others. Brian's customer service is awesome, one of the best I've dealt with. Here are the pictures of my stuff:

How do you like the nhl spec dx2. I have a non legal dx2 right now which I love but I tried on an nhl spec one at the store and it felt way different. In the store the theif felt better.

flyer8800, I would definitely get those mods on the pads.

My current set is pro-stuffed, thinned out, 11", and has quick release straps, but I would definitely have the graphics on calf and knee removed as well as higher density foam in the inner gusset. The foam that they put there is very soft which doesn't help sliding, especially when the ice is bad.

My next set will probably have all those mods you mentioned.

Wow i did a quick search and your right there isnt an official Brians thread yet! weird howd that slip by?! Either way cool, and i added the quotes.

For the record these "Official" threads arent official as far as the companies themselves go, rather made for members to post info on their favorite gear, and to make searches ALOT easier, thats all- the companies dont have anything to do with these official threads.

My current Dx2s:

-11"
-Pro stuffed/thinned out
-Boot shortened, rounded toe
-Nylon leg channel
-Clarino boot
-quick release straps.

I think those mods make for a really comfortable and light pad.

Also, I have an ALite chesty that is sick. I almost never get a stinger and its really light too.
