Thumbs up "Official" Pro's Choice Thread

I did a search and didn't find an "official" thread. I know Stitchboys review in the review section has become a posting ground .. But i think Dom deserves his own.
Here is Dom's site:

Pro's Choice Home

And first and formost from the get go.. because i know it will be asked..
regarding price of any of Dom's masks.. please just call Dom.

So here is my contribution to this..

I ordered a Vapor. Nothing fancy, just going to be like my current mask.
Viper blue, white catseye, white straps, stock chin drop, V earholes.

And this is my first attempt at a headmold..
The guy (mike) that does work for the local Hyatt artshop helped me.
He has never done a goalie mold.. only face.. so I am unsure if this mold goes high enough on the head. I send Dom an email to be sure.. other wise i will try again.

Here is a pic:

Reading is fun-damental.

So anyway to avoid turning this thread sour so soon, I will say that my next mask (when my Staytrix wears out far in the future) will definitely be a Pro's Choice. I didn't realize that I had a top notch mask maker less than 2 hours away.

Talking to Dom is a great experience.. I would call not email him.. why?
because he is simply a nice guy to speak with . and of course extemely knowledgeable about masks.

I just thank this board for hooking me up with the caliber of people and gear
that I would have never had the chance to speak with.

I have found Smith gear. spoke to Pete himself.
Scored NHL pro return pants and CA.
Had a phone call with Jerry Wright from Itech.
Scott Battram helped me fix my old CA.
Sarah from PAW made me custom knee pads.
Phil Maltese with the throat combo.
Everyone's help with my Graf/Bauer frankin skates.
******* taking care of the valueables..

And now Pro's choice!

This board is a priceless resource for a goalie. Thank you Miller Gear/ Paul our host for a heck of a great board.

I don't see what makes this thread any different or "Official" than all the other Pro's choice threads out there. If you have any questions about Dom's masks, it's already been posted, all the way from making a head mold to customization to price. Do a search.

My Pro's is already done and in Paint right now, will post my results in the appropriate thread when I get it...

Jim, best of luck with your mask, I'm only a few short weeks away because of paint (still working on sketches to get it right, won't get into that) and I agree with everything you said about dealing with Dom..

I believe most of the prices that I've seen posted in that range also include a paint job.

Khabbi,
this is different because all Pro's Choice posting can now be in one thread.
In researching the Vapor. I found most info in the reviews under many different threads.. and then the one here in the equipment forum about a trip to Dom's.
So now like the RBK mask thread everything can be under one roof.

Cheers
Jim

Champ...that mask looks amazing!! Love the metallic paint on there

This mask is definitely on my list for my next mask...now if I only had the money

Jim - Congrats on the new mask! One question....how the heck do you breath during that mold?? Shouldn't there be a hole cut for the mouth

NYink,
i was able to breath out of my nose. i had no issues.. i was fine.. my guy actually ran out of plaster bandages.. i could have sat like that for an hour easy.. it was no prob.. and dom said my mold was good to go. i was very concerned it wasnt thick enough.

stich, thank you.. i am really looking forward to it.

Champ,
Awesome mask! awesome color choice!
I will also go with a solid color nothing fancy.. just viper blue w/white cage.
like i currently have.

Cant wait to read your review.
cheers
Jim

Champ nice clean mask. I'm thinking of going with a clean design myself. I was thinking of doing a Andy Moog mask but with my colors. The best thing is the fit i'm sure. What color is your gear?

Gentlemen,

Forgive my slight bias, as I’m probably sounding like a broken record. With all the well-deserved buzz around the Vapor, I think the original Pro’s Choice mask can get overlooked.

For those of us who can’t afford the Vapor, the original PC mask gives NHL-level protection at a lower cost, with the only down-side being increased weight relative to the Vapor. It’s still a current model, fully custom fit, has the same cage as the Vapor, and Dom gives it just as much care and attention as he does the Vapor. The original PC is still worn in the NHL by Manny Fernandez.

I’m thrilled with mine, and I highly recommend it!
