Suggestions for better knee protection

Can anyone recommend knee pads/ goalies pants for better protection? I am 11 years old and weigh about 105 lbs. I saw a Louisville TPS JPG205 Jr. Goalie pant and Rbk 5K Jr. Goalie pant advertised on Goaliemonkey.com. So far I tried on Bauer knee pads and found them too restricting.

Go with RBK knee pads or PAW knee pads, I have the rbks and love them as i havent felt a shot with them and have a few puck marks. I've heard nothing but good things about PAW and that's why you should consider their knee pads. Maybe you should go to a store and try some on and see which ones you like best.

I am an old guy; old school goalie.. 39yrs.
I didnt like the thigh boards and took them off my pads..
Right now i am at the 4 week mark of recovery to my right knee.

I was using just kneepads and a little monster child (18yr old; Division I ) player
tagged me in the knee with a slapshot inside the faceoff dot.

Needless to say.. i put the darn thighboards back on..

My 2 cents.. get kneepads from PAW.. there is a link on the boards equipment thread. and use thighboards.. a very sore swollen knee for a month is no fun at all..

Cheers

Jim

Jim were you using kneepads when this happened, if so please share what kneepads you were using. Darn kids today with no respect and their britney spears and such.

I would suggest that you also look at the new Itech knee pads. They look like the RBK ones, and I find them very comfortable.
I haven't taken any shots to the knee yet, so I can't say anything about the protection..

Knee pads or additional knee stacks?

can I just use a set of knee pads instead of adding knee stacks? I've been looking for another set of stacks but not getting much of a response.

I was using paw ultralight kneepads.. not the stock version.
I had them made ultralight and thin to fit under my flatface pants.
The kneepads did me well. it keep me out of the hospital.
Without them i was for sure heading there.
No joke this shot was moving.. i was shocked i even stopped it..
and the impact was directly above the kneecap.. late 2nd period.
I finished the game.. basically on one leg.. in the locker room the knee was size of a basketball.. and now at the 4 week mark it is finally back to normal.

I would definitely recommend the paw ultralights.. again fluke/shot accident.

But i will not play without thighguards and kneepads again.. i never want to go thru this again.

Cheers
Jim

Try contacting Sara from PAW. She can make them for you. She goes by Beccaraptor on the board.

Take a look at the Vector 10 goalie pants on clearence on Goaliemonkey. I've been using them for over a year now with no thigh boards and get hit there a lot and never feel a thing.
