Ha Ha! I thought of that after I started the thread.

Hey sprawl, looks good! With that wide of a flare you should completly shut your 5 hole, and you would still have great width.

Your shirts sure do a lot of talking

Can someone post a link to a solid glove positioning thread? I think that's a key part to what's going on here and I don't feel qualified to help out.

Hehe The shirt lies BTW. I'm just lazy

How's my butterfly look now? How are my knee's? Think there in good position?

So this thread, you in your butterfly only.

I'll get started. Just a quick picture in the basement, on ice photos coming soon.

People may disagree, but I don't like to see daylight between the knees (BTW, if you've ever seen my playing, I don't get to coach myself ). In your second pic, I can still see some carpet. I would try driving the knees together as much as possible to seal that off. IMO, you want to get the puck with the stick before the pads, but if you're facing a straight-on shot, you want to seal the space from the hips down as best as you can because sometimes it gets over the stick.

By making sure your knees are as close to touching as possible, you eliminate the squeakers. So, as a personal preference thing, I'd say get those knees a little closer.

When you go into the bfly, do you feel like you're snapping your knees together and driving down or rolling/falling into it? If you're snapping your knees together, work on keeping them together as you're going down.

Another question: If I take away your thigh boards, do you feel like you have good closure between your legs?

Thanks! In a game today I let in a bad 5 hole goal. Maybe if I had squeezed my knees together it would've helped. I just kinda drive to the ice and don't worry about my knees but now that I know that's somewhat of a problem I'll definitely work on it. I usually didn't worry about it because 99% of the time I just deflect the shots into the corner with my stick.

I only use the thigh boards as a method of helping close my 5 hole. I wear knee pads so I have no use other that 5 hole sealing for the thigh boards. Should I take them off?

If you want to, but don't go crazy. I took mine off, as you can see below, but I would work on snapping those knees together and keeping them together as you drive the knees down before I rip my thighboards off. One small step at a time, y'know ?

I'm currently working on re-tooling my down low game because I'm letting up a lot of garbage goals that I don't like through the legs. I have a gap in my five hole, too, so rest assured that I'm doing as much work on my own game as I'm telling you to do on yours

My pads also have 1 thick, hard knee block that prevents me from getting my knees as close as they maybe should be. I ordered some knee lifts from PAW that should be here soon.

I actually hate my thigh boards. They didn't help at all today or any other day because they just end up getting tangled up in each other and not being square

I'll be sure to work on keeping my knees close together. Thanks for the help leafer
