holy dump i hate those drills. they tell you to go down on every shot. so then you start to cheat. then game situation, you see the windup then the drill kicks in. you auto-butterfly. boom. top corner. has happened too many times.

Is that Jamie Storr's camp at Toyota Sports Center? I think he had the Ricky Bobby paintjob on his 961.
When I was at TSC last week Storr was hanging out at the rink.

As some of you may know I'm to the position, but here's my butterfly. I need to fix the stick and my glove. I think the problem is more that I just need a new glove. Sorry about the bad quality.

What length paddle is that? Looks like it is pushing your blocker out of position.

Measuring it on the lower side, from the top of the paddle to where the heal starts, about 25". It was the only size I could get. My dad had me buy the cheapest one just incase I didn't stick with the position of goalie.

Just try to get the stick more out infront of u and slant it so if the puck hits it it will come up to ur chest and u can cover it. Also try to bring ur arms in more so you dont have that whole between your arm and body. Looks good tho just keep at it

When I started butterfly I just had a hard time remembering to get my arms in so I just practiced a lot with the mind set of "head up, hands out, stick down, ram the elbows into the ribs" and I just kept saying that in my head whenever I was out by myself, with 1-2 shooters or at scrub etc.
And I would agree that a shorter paddle would be beneficial because even if you compensate by holding the stick on an angle so that it deflects pucks up into your chest, you will still need to be tight with your stick flat on the ice for 5 hole shots.

obie35 I like to push my hands forward in my butterfly, it closes holes between your body and arms and it gives you more balance. if you keep your stick in front of you and on an angle every puck that hits it will either go into the corners or into your chest. does anyone think i'm right or wrong.

the only time i tend to butterfly is if the puck is below my waistline, or in close.
and in close, i butterfly tight to close all holes.
if a shot is low and from a reasonable distance i am active with my stick in dispersing any rebounds.

Yes, when you put your arms foward it cuts down the angle of the puck.
