You look like your a little closer to my style of bfly. I see you dont keep your gloves sealed against the pads. I dont think it's true bfly, but I was forced to do the same thing. I was constantly geting sniped in the top corners, and a felt I just had to raise em a bit to give myself a head start on those shots. It helped alot, and I dont think a gave up to many more under the gloves.

2007 ACHA All-Star Game.

There are times for wide and times for narrow b-flys.

The puck is gathered behind my blade that is why thestick is positioned like that.

It's a damn good thing you have a narrow butterfly... there's no room for it to get any wider.

YES!!!

Especially the guys saying "I have a great butterfly, I don't care if they score up high." Talk about putting form before function.

Here is the only one I have access to from work. This was the first time i had my Smiths on the ice. Obviously it is a staged shot or I am REALLY out of position. I dropped from my stance to a blocking b-fly, but I have realized some issue of double covrage and stick positioning from the pic. I need to have someone take a few more pics, especially action shots so i can see if I have fixed the issues. The second pic is zoomed in and lightened to show more detail

But if I use this stance when the shooter has an open shot between the circles, he has tons of net to hit. If I do go to the bfly when there is an open shot from far out, I keep my hands alot higher, because I have more time to get them down.

I guess my thinking goes: if there is not a open shot, the puck will likely get wacked toward the net low, and the bfly is in order. If he has the puck and has time, you might wana keep the hands up, cause thats to much net to cover up after he releases the shot.

my 2 cents

Not trying to be Captain Callout here, but this b-fly is clearly too wide for both your balance and for the situation. You are making your rebound control worse, your recovery time longer and creating more holes than covering with that wide of a b-fly. You can clearly see that it is a struggle for you to stay upright.

And by the way, Giggy is a cheater, that's the only way he gets away with a super narrow b-fly on every effing save.
