Used Warwick Worth it or not?

So today I came across a used warwick helmet Belfour style. It was in "ok" shape a flakes of paint missing and needs new padding, but structurally speaking it looked pretty dang solid. I think it was around $70 USD.

Now my question is would it be worth it to pick it up and put a few dollars into it?
Im thinking yes, but what do you think?

Ill try and get some pics of it the next time I see it.

Have pics now:

UPDATE:

I snatched it up for a little more than I thought it was going to be but a steal never the less! I looked it over fairly well and have only spotted a problem with the cage having 2 dents and few chips in the gel coat. Other than that its pretty solid.

Only thing is, it seems like it might be an extensive refurbishing project for me and I like my Sportmask. I dont have time for such a project with work, school, studying, and hockey(3-5 times a week). Does this appear to be a long project or no?

For $70 I would say a cautious yes. Make sure you pull the padding out and check to see if any of those "paint flakes" are actually hiding cracks. This happened to me, lending my sweet deal to be a total bust. Guy described the mask as needing a couple of "gel coat" chips replaced. When I pulled the wretched padding out I found a hairline crack. Might be fine once it was properly fixed but I decided it wasn't worth the effort or money from my standpoint to do it. So now it sits.

The cage alone assuming its in good shape is worth the $70.

Ill have to run up there tomorrow and snatch it up I think. Are there different models of Warwick or since its says Belfour that alone is a model? I'm not too familiar with them. Thanks for the replies.

The only differnce between Warwick models of the same vintage is the shell shape. The materials are all the same. If it ain't broke, $70 is a steal - if you pick it up, I'll give you $75 for it

If its in great shape, why not pick it up as a project.

Fix it up, test it out. If you don't like it, you can always sell it.

Be VERY careful Bud.

If you plan to wear it in a game, a used mask is pretty much a NO-NO in my books.

If it looks warn and beat down, it's toast. This is safety equipment were talking about and all masks have a shelf life.

Take care.

Ive had used masks before and they have never failed me. Im not saying just slap any old mask on and its good. Im just saying that after inspecting and deciding that its suitable for play Ill use it.

Thanks for all of your replies its been a huge help!

If it were me, I'd get it and send it back to Gary for refurbishing. This way he can check it over and repad it for you!

Needs some work - mostly cleaning!

Warwick will repad it and replace the hardware for $125 as per their website - I didn't see cage prices at first glance.

And a link to the Belfour 357 model - your shell is probably the older materials, but the mask shape is described:
