Probably because most people buy a Velo pad because of it's flexability mainly due to the 2 breaks in the verticle roll. When you remove the top break the pad becomes stiffer (although still felixible compared to other pads I guess) and you need a wider b-fly to close the 5-hole. That's my guess

i had a set of 5500 pads that were black with the iceberg in yellow some 3 sets of pads ago..unfortunitly no pics

Yea, but I dont understand. Who cares about 5-hole coverage when they look that sweet?

Does anyone have an idea as to the size of Connelly's pads? They look like monsters

I contacted GM and yes you can definately get the iceberg graphics in the 7500 pro series for 100 bucks for pads and 100 for glove and blocker

Before it was cool? How about having them before Velos were even cool?? Note my pads in the picture. That is an original set of XP pros. Also known as the 4500, the pads that Marty Turco made popular..or not so popular as they were short lived.

Kevin Hodson is one of the OG's ...he had 2 different colorways.




the "London Knigs" goalie a page back is Steve Mason, he has had 2 different patterns as well. Rarely is the outer roll graphic used...but here it is.
