Carey Price's new Vaughn pads
Canadiens' Carey Price received new V2/V3 hybrid pads from Vaughn on Monday, and begins breaking them in at morning skate in Montreal today. He hopes to be wearing them as early as this weekend.
Here's the story with photos, as linked at habsinsideout.com:

Nice little puff piece of writing for Vaughn - good product exposure.
It's amazing that he's already gone thru 5 sets of pads this season... at least he knows what he likes.

quote from the full article: "The interest among goalies in what's worn by the top pros, says Achenbach, "is goofy, crazy ... Star Wars hype times 10.""
sounds about right.

Nicest V3 graphic I've seen.
It really is shocking that the pads shrink that much. I know they shrink, I know it's been mentioned numerous times but wow...that photo really shows a significant amount of settling.

Vaughn pads always look that much taller in the beginning. While Price's pads have shrunk a little, they've also developed more of a curve at the kneerolls and on up through the thighrise. New Vaughn pads are straight up and down stiff until a bend is worked into them-.

The reason for the pads being taller is the new ones have no s-curve sguish to em yet. And the toe probably looks different due to wear. I cant see Price saying "hey there's only a few games left before the playoffs and everyone's eyes are on me because Huet is gone but hey, what the hell, let's try some new specs on my new gear"
