Washing blocker with boiling water/baking soda. Woops... Help!

Okay, so after reading through a thread on how to clean your gloves with boiling water, I decided to give it a shot on my old blocker. So here I am pouring the water in through the palm and since I had a lot of goo from black tape on the palm, i massaged some baking soda on it with an old toothbrush. After letting it dry, the palm is now grey in color and is all dried out. Is there anything i can do to restore the softness? I'm guessing the baking soda should have been used on the nylon/cordura only... Ill post a pic momentarily.

keep rinsing it it out. Murphys Oil soap is said to clean well and soften the palm up!

Saddle Store

Hello; I bought a leather cleaner and conditioner that is meant for people who have horses. It is for cleaning saddles and bridles and that kind of stuff. Any place that sells tack equipment will have some. If you live in Canada and there is one nearby I bought mine at good old Princess Auto. It is a white paste and it works great. Thoroughly removes all old tape and goo. Keep the palm clean and supple. Try this if you can find some. Good luck.

Maybe a little late, but I'll throw my 2 cents in....I use a spray bottle of about 80% water and 20% straight vinegar, spray them liberally, let dry at room temperature, and bingo, their soft again. I've done this on all my gloves (goalie and player) and the only issue I saw was they smelled just a tad funny the first time using them, but after once, their good to go. Good luck!
