You stated what I was saying right there. A goalie IS allowed to establish any position he wants in his crease and if he woulda came out nd made contact with Homer then it woulda been a penalty, but he stayed deep in his crease so homer went where he is most comfotable. Any believe me every single NHL player pushes the rules so much so that some of them actually get penalties for it I mean come on people the rules are there to keep people within them. If the Red Wings were out of line then they should be called, and they did sometimes. I mean come on you can't blame a team for not getting penalties and call them cheating, call out the refs.

Turco is NOT at the top of his crease, which is still the crease. WHo's there? Homer is! not allowing Turco to get there. And if any interference was made with a goalie outside the crease and the goalie interference rule did not apply, the regular interference rule would! u still cant be hitting and jumping on top of a player without the puck. This bridge between the two rules should make interference witht he goaltender called nomatter where he is if he gets interfered with.

however, bettmen doesnt see it like this. he wants pucks in nets so refs are told to use their discrimination to always determine that no interference was made

Most of his time was spent talking about how he liked his current pads and that Ozzie and the training staff had to keep opening them up and changing the foam because they were breaking down so bad. They showed how the top of the pad was splitting apart from it being opened and sewed shut so many times.

If you look at another pic that was posted in this thread it really doesn't look like what they did to the pads was an extension so much as they had to rig a new top binding.

Believe me those things were ragged when they showed them. It's a shame he didn't go with the shiny new Itechs.
it looks like you're right that they're more of a patch or binding fix - if you look at both before and after pieces you can see the red line splits the distance of the top section equally.
those pads look awesome - im all for old and ugly pads (irbe) - cant wait until my new ones look that beaten up.

I agree with you, that there should be an in the crease call. But in a league where that rule was taken away should everyone still abide by it. It's like if they took away handpassing as a stopage, everyone would be batting pucks to each other. Every goalie that has played anywhere from High School to AAA on up knows that there is going to be some obstruction in front of the net. In this situation Turco (who is one of my favorite goalies) is deep in his net, a good two three inches from Homer who is doing what he gets paid to do. If he were to replay that situation, I think he would be aggresive, and come out establish his ground, and pushing his way through, or at least give Homer a lil tug to get his mind off of the shot. I was always taught to not let anyone have any ground unearned. If he's in my face and there's no defense taking him out, I will slash push and trip a player if it prevents a goal. What's better looking dirty and making a save, or letting a player obstruct your view and score plus it will happen again. Here is an example of what I wanted to see Turco do in that situation.

and that is at rookie camp... not in an NHL game. Turco needs to keep focused on the puck. it is the ref's (and his D's) job to keep the opposition from interfering with him.

I think the main reason that this goal went in, was that his pads have the really fatal flaw, if you notice.

I doubt RBK is gonna dish out that much money to a career minor leaguer but who knows. I do know that RBK made alot of AHLers use their sticks so maybe they also persuaded the league to have their guys wear their gear too. whatever.

RBK is the exclusive supplier to the AHL - they have a league-wide licensing deal. No other brand name is allowed to be shown on any gear or sticks, aside from goalie gear.

So the teams are fully stocked by RBK, and that's what the players get when they show up in the fall.

If a player insists on using something else, some teams will get it for him, and some may not, depending on that players stature, and/or how much extra it will cost the team to do so. There are no discounts from other brands, since they don't get any exposure.
