I thought Nabby was from Khazakstan? If he is, then why is he playing for Russia, or did I miss something?

Yes he is from Khazakhskaya SSR (so it was named when it was a part of USSR)
we have some other goalies from Ust-Kamenogorsk (town where Nabby was born) in our Hockey League and all of them have official "dual nationality"(politics of Russia and Khazakstan allows it). But if he played at least 1 game for one of these national teams he can't play for another for some years.

Nabby also played for the USSR and represented Russia before the end of the Soviet Union. About 5 or 10 years ago, there was a big ordeal about it but it was up to him since he already represented one country. I think the same thing happened with Brett Hull, but he had dual citizenship.

I've found that Nabokov played for Kazakhstan in 1994. So before playing Russia national team he should wait 5 or 10 years (I don't remember). He played for Russian national team only in 2006.
