Carnivale is right. That is not a VV catseye on my mask. I bought a Koho catseye off Ebay awhile back. I have now bought a new SK2000 clone from Shawn at Custom Made Masks, so I sold the catseye to a BBer. I kinda regret that as I think I might jump on a old VV if one comes along in good shape.

VV Cat Eye Cage
Hey,
I do have a VV cat eye cage that has been sitting in my basement for the last 6 years or so... I had to switch it for an ugly certified one when I started to play hockey in Ontario. That's sad because I much prefer the look of a cat eye cage.
I've never considered selling it because I didn't think anyone would be interested. And because I wanted to keep it in case I wanted to switch back.
I've had my mask for over 15 years and I love it. I'm planning to get a second customize paint job done on it.

Well, the Koho mask in your picture and the VanVelden (sherwood) in the pic in one of my earlier posts are the same for the most part. Holes are drilled in different spots if I am correct. That's going back abit. If you mean the short run of Sher-wood masks more recently, I believe that is Gabe that did those who is now Hackva. The Hackva mask is similar to the Koho that he used to produce. I think I have that right, but someone more familiar with Hackva can clarify.

Sherwood has slapped their name on masks from numerous different manufacturers. There have been "Sherwood" masks made by Cohen, WJD, Van Velden, and, as Daffy pointed out, a small run of "Sherwood" branded Hackva masks. However, none of the Sherwood branded masks are identical to the Koho 570 as far as I know. The Koho mask manufactured by VV (the one pictured on the first page) was referred to as the 500 series and is distinct from the 570 model.

Hey Dan,
I've had a VV mask for almost 15 years and love it. Bought it brand new from *******. The construction is fiberglass with Kevlar reinforced forehead and chin area I believe, but I don't know for sure. Never had any problems with it! I, too was looking for a cat-eye cage, but had no luck. However, I recently sent an e-mail to Tony at Otny Wire about a custom cage and have had a great experience so far! Here's the link:
Otny Enterprise LTD - Specializing in Wire Products - Home
He said that he used to make cages for VV masks, so making a cat-eye would be no problem. I'm still waiting to send mine out, as I am playing right now and don't have a back up. Tony has been very fast, friendly, and very helpful - he has even gone out of his way to reach out to someone who can refurbish my mask! Once I have all the info, and have a break in my playing schedule, I'll be sending it out.
Hope this info helps!

rusogoalie, the mask that you there is a Itech PS3 which was a SMU (Sprecial Make Up) the The Hockey Group buying group a few years ago. Very good quality, we had bought all the left over models about three years ago.

Quality shouldn't be a real issue, as the guy above mentioned, they are pretty good. cages will be a pain. The Heaton is very close if not the same style as the CCM GF6 which was made up until around 2 years ago so some may still be out there. If you say both cages are the same fit, then you just need two, but I think you will have a much harder time finding something Koho, especially if it is a VV shape opening/mask mount.
The only thing I would say about the quality before you do all the refurbishing and put some cash into it is after 10 years of use are they worth it.

I needed a new cage for mine, I got an Eddy catseye which came close enough that after a little judicial bending ot he whole cage fit no problem and tight to the same hole sets that were already in place.
