Need Advice on Chest Protectors!!!

Hey dose anybody have any advice on the new chest protectors (vaughn, RBK)? Like how to break them in faster, what ones do you have better movement in, too bulky. Stuff like that.

There is plenty of threads on the board that talk about chest protectors. Also, a lot of reviews about them. Did you try doing a search?

Anyways, I went with the Itech X-wing. I like the the bulk and mobility it offers. A lot of members have been recommending the Vaughn Epic 8800. I don't think you can go wrong with Vaughn. I've tried on a few RBK's. The X-Pulse was comfortable, but I felt that it was lacking protection. The PII was a little stiff for my tastes. #20 owns the PII I believe and likes it.

I just suggest you go and try some on at a local shop.

I always wear my new equipment around the house to help break it in. Flex the arms of the chest protector across your body above your head. Try and do household things with it on to get used to it's bulk. Also, when on the ice with it do these flexing movements while the puck is at the other end of the ice.

I have a Brown 2100 and would recommend Brown if you can afford it or find a good deal on one. Very protective units.

now that its getting to be summer time, leave the chesty in the trunk of your car. when the car gets hot inside itll loosen up nicely.

I have a PSII c/a (2007 model). For the most part, I really like it. I haven't had a bruise on my chest, stomach or arms since getting it (I used to get a bunch with my old c/a, Heaton 5). It was rather stiff when I first got it, but I threw it in the dryer on high heat and then would immediately put it on and move around in it, it loosened up pretty well, though still would probably be considered stiff compared to some c/a's. However, it is a tank. The only big probably I have with it is that the arms tend to run a little long on them, but I've learned to deal with it.

Yea, I have the New PSII C/A, the silver and black one, and I feel the Arms are way to long. I'm 5'8 and I have a Men's Medium. All the other parts of the C/A are perfect except for the arm length. Also it's built like an Tank.

Staying on topic, I spray some water on the Area's where I feel like It's stiff, before I go out and play with it. Eventually, the movements will loosen up the C/A.

Yea my chest pad is tiny so I was thinking about getting the Vaughn Epic 8800. I like the way its constructed from what I've seen. One of my friends has it.

Well, the vaughns are better than the rbks, and arent the rbk's made in china or something? I refuse to buy rbk gear because some of it is made in china, like the 8k pads etc

Almost every major company nowadays has some form of their production overseas. Even Vaughn, everything but the pro level gear is made over seas. Are you saying you wont buy the products built overseas? or the products from the company that builds overseas?

My vaughn vp 5500 has been fine for 9 years now. It's the one piece that I'm not thinking of replacing.
