Worst I ever experienced was when my team went to state. I flew to Seattle and my gear went to Colorado.

my then new gear (miklin pads, a couple of years ago) left Russia landed in Frankfurt , Germany, got on a plane to Brussels and just fell of somewhere mid air, for they got boarded in Frankfurt and never arrived in Brussels.

Had to go trough a lot of crap with the air company, reorder pads and meanwhile my old pads were literally falling of my legs.

I never got a good explanation why or how they got lost, so i assume they got nicked by personnel or got damaged so bad that they wanted to cover up and said they were lost rather then fess up and repay for it in total.

pun.

hmmm

when in college our third string goalie got drunk took a dump in the top of his rooms toilet (aka the upper decker)... and just all around trashed the room.. I was sitting out this game so I left my gear at the motel along w/ two others players gear... while at the game room service went in to clean they were pissed and locked all of my gear and the other players gear in the lobby board room til our team paid $1300 for damages... so the worst thing was couldn't leave the motel w/ gear til coach and the other goalie forkd out the cash -danny

Not sure if this counts, but as a Bantam I played a game late one night in January at Dartmouth College in NH and, after getting lost on the way up and on the way back, did not get back home in Massachusetts until about 2:30-3:00 in the morning. Had a game the next morning at 8:00am in Pittsfield (about 2 hours away). My dad and I get up, throw my still soaking wet gear in the back of the pick up, and start the drive.

A little more than half way there, we realize that soaking wet gear and sub-zero temeratures is probably a very bad combination. So we stop, and sure enough, my C&A is frozen stiff! We then took the gear, stuffed it in the cab, and placed the C&A on the window defroster on the dash to try and thaw it out! Needless to say it didn't thaw all that well, and only worked to make the interior of the truck smell like hot, old-cheese-gear-funk-stank. I then had to thaw it out the old fashioned way...

I was actually at a tournament two years ago, and my buddy's car was loaded with 1 set of goalie gear and 3 sets of player gear and like a dozen player sticks. Someone stole the car at night. Next day police found the car, with all the gear still in the car, and the $50 head unit and a $30 CD player was missing....

For a tournament someone put my sticks on the bus in a bad position and they had snapped when we arrived. My backup broke his only stick the day earlier, and for some reason pro shops at ice rinks never have sr goalie sticks so I had to play with a 23" sherwood.

I'm curious myself if thieves would break into a car just to steal goalie gear.

Maybe I'm paranoid, but whenever we go out for food or drinks after a game, I'm always nervous about leaving thousands of dollars of equipment in my vehicle... regardless of whether or not it smells like hell...

Our team went for a tournament in Las Vegas. When we arrived at McCarran airport and the gear started coming out of the "chute," one of the straps on my Eagle goalie bag got caught in the conveyor mechanism and tore nearly clean off. It doesn't have wheels, so naturally I had to awkwardly carry it all week.

When we got back to Vancouver I put a couple of stitches in it and it's held out OK. I need to get a wheely bag.
