Help? Graf Rust
hey guys. i just got back from powerskating tonight and my skates were in my bag for just an hour. when i get home i usually get a towel and dry the blades extra extra throughly. Since their my first expensive skates, i want them to last a longg time and im taking extra super care of them.
well when i took the blade covers off just now, they have rust on the bottom! im very freaked out because these are my babys! and ive used swiss cheese rusted blades before. they suck -_- so any solution besides getting them resharpened to grind them off? ive put vaseline on the blades to stop the oxidation process. has this happened to anyone else? oh and this is only my third time using them on the ice.
heeelp!?

Take the towel to the ink and dry them thoroughly there. It has worked for my Grafs and Bauers. I also put them in skate pockets with blade covers also. Hope that helps.

Pretty sure the Graf is a stainless blade, so this doesn't help much.
Get some terrycloth soakers. Use the outside to dry them off after a game, then slip them over when you pack up. The terrycloth wicks away any excess moisture somehow. My blades are perpetually rust-free.

Dry them as soon as you get them off. Dry them again as soon as you get home. Condensation is your enemy, and cold blades are not cool. Skate guards with the fleecy stuff inside are your friend. Also, as long as you don't get rust on the side of your blades it shouldn't be a big deal. I get rust in the hollow of my skates, and it scared me the first time, but a fingernail can scratch it off, so I get it every time and never worry about it. My skate sharpener never worries about it either. Rust on the sides can easily become an issue though. If you're super paranoid, as soon as you get out of the shower, pretend you're drying yourself under the air dryer, but secretly warm up your skate blades. I'm not sure how you'd accomplish this, but warm blades wont form condensation. Just smile at teammates as they give you the ol' corner eye.

I wipe off my skates after use and get them hung up to dry within a half-hour of the game, but there's still a bit of surface rust that forms on the sides of the blades that I clean off every couple months.
My method for fixing this? WD40 and an abrasive sponge (one you'd use when washing dishes). Spray, rub. Repeat a few times until the rust is gone.
Now, if you're getting rust after just three uses? Something's wrong. Like others have said, make sure to dry them off and air them out.

If the sponge doesn't work, steel wool will do the trick, but seriously, a sharpening will also do it, but be sure to wipe off COMPLETELY, any moisture that is on the runner, blade and even boot before you put your soaker/guard on if you want to make sure that doesn't happen again.

if you want it dry, why not use something like a microfibre towel or something. I use them after I wash/detail cars. They absorb a lot of water, and once their wet just ring them. They ring out water really well. You can buy like a pack of 8 for $5 at wal-mart.

I usually bring a hair dryer and towel to take the moisture off the blade then put skate guards. No rust almost every time. Some rust will manage to get on sometimes.
