RX9 catcher problem

I have had my Rx9 catcher for around 5 or 6 months. It has broken in really nicely. And for some reason i have been getting stingers every shot too the palm. I dont think this should be happening with a pro level glove at my age (minor batam.) I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on why this is happening, i was also wondering if this has happened to any one else?

I play senior A of course good shooters... everyone here faces PRO'S weekly.
I have a Smith gloves that are 3 years old and not a stinger.

It sounds like the RX9 is having a quality issue.
I would contact the retailer so they can assist you in resolving the problem.
Maybe the whole line is defective and needs improvement.. but the manufacturer doesnt know unless you tell them.
But i would start at the store and if not satisfaction call Itech directly.

Pro model/top level catchers do not leave you with stingers.
If they do... they need to ask Pete Smith if he would teach them how to make a quality glove.

Cheers
Jim

I had a V2 about 6 months now and alot of people gets stingers no matter how good or expensive your glove is. I get stingers pretty often if it hits me square in the palm with speed.

Again, no matter how you catch the puck.. palm or in the webbing you should not get a stinger..

If the glove is made correctly it will have enough padding and plastic
to absorb the impact.

In the 3 years i had 1 shot i could feel.. didnt sting but i felt it..
JR kid...

these gloves that leave you guys with stingers on a regular basis are not quality gloves.

I am alittle surprised the RX is having this issue.. i wanted to get one to check it out after Marty Biron praised his on a TV interview.. but his was made custom
with I am sure NHL quality padding.

As a side note.. i am no backup.. and do not catch them all in the webbing..
i dont have to...
I own a smith..
seriously.. its 2008 not 1980 glove making has improved and there is no need to play with a crappy catcher and get stingers..
want proof.. try a smith..
if you were local i would loan you mine for a game..
or call Pete..he had a loaner set going around..
Cheers
Jim

I don't think this is normal, but I guess the only thing we can do is either order a pro palm or get a Smith

ok here ill give you some good advice try wearing a baseball glove under your catch the baseball glove will help absorb the shock that causes the stinging effect thats why base ball players use them it not just for gripping the bat its to absorb the shock of the bat hitting the ball it wiill help a little not completey

happy everyone i helped the kid

Yeah you're right wow. I feel like a total loser now. My team had an awesome season and came up short in the finals. I am now going to model myself after you so that I too can be an awesome tender who catches the puck in the webbing on ever single shot. So then I can come on an internet forum and talk like a moron for 20 mins so people will respond. Thank you again.

His influence is Dipietro...maybe that explains the childish behavior and rude attitude. No offense to any Islander fans! Invisible beers all around

Back to the original thread. In my humble opinion, with the price of a pro level glove, you shouldn't feel stingers, anywhere...and yes, that includes the PS2. The RX9 glove felt like a tank when I tried one on in the store but, as the original poster mentioned, he didn't start having this problem until the glove was used and got broken in. I've subbed in for a few A league teams here with a TPS Bionic glove/blocker and didn't feel a shot through either one (and a couple shots hit directly in the palm), which I though was kind of weird, but in a good way. Like previously mentioned, it may be a manufactures defect or it may be an underlying problem with the whole glove...I honestly couldn't tell you since I don't own one but, all the rave I've heard about it around this state, it's been nothing but good things.

Maybe some "PRO" gloves are having corners cut during manufacturing? Many people I know won't touch the PS2 gloves, due to protection issues they have had, which shuns me away from them, as well. I guess I really need to start taking a hard look at the Velocity lines!
