My brothers experience with "Goalie Heaven"

Just spoke to my brother on the phone, he's not a member of this board, but I thought I would share his experience with all of you. His story seemed a bit odd, but then he forwarded me his emails so I could see it with my own eyes.

He was looking at some RBK PII goalie pads that goalie heaven had listed on ebay. I guess he wanted to see what kind wear was on the pads, and just some more details in general so he called the store on Sunday July 26th. The salesperson on the store gave a bit of background on the pads, but then asked that an email be sent to request any more information and pictures if possible. So he emailed ..

Email#1

Subject: Used RBK Premier Series 2 Hockey Goalie Leg Pads 36"+1 Item number: 310069937698‏

Hi there,

Would you please be able to send me more pictures of the subject goalie pads you have listed on ebay? Boot area, toe are, backs of the pads? Are there any wear spots? Cuts? Scrapes etc.?

Even the picture in the listing, if I could see the larger version, that would be great!

Thanks so much,

Marc

Hello?

Are these emails monitored? I called the store to request pictures, and they told me to email? The store is infact open for business it seems. Not sure what to do...

Marc

Now I know the forum often suggests to call the store directly to ensure better service, but when the store asks you to email them, what are you supposed to do?

Anyways, it's not the end of the world, just thought the fellow GSBB'ers might like to hear his story.

I believe Dana (Big Daddy D here on the board) is the primary Ebay guy there, and he's been on vacation.

I won a mask a week ago, and they were very helpful on the phone when I called. They shipped it the day I paid for it, and it got to me in under a week.

When in doubt, pick up the phone!!

Technically, that is what he did. =)

Sounds to me like the guy at the store asked him to email for a picture request so that the Ebay person would get it. But that Ebay person was infact on vacation, so his messages went unanswered.

I will say this, it is much easier to deal with picture requests via email. It's a simple reply for the seller at that point. Pictures are going to have to be sent via email anyways, so this way they don't have to write down your email address and/or risk fluffing it up.

I bought a pair of pads from them two months ago. I can't really comment on your brother's experience with them as I didn't ask any questions before bidding. They were very helpful when I called to pay and shipping was very fast. Shipping fees were very reasonable too.

When I received the pads, I realized they was a bit more than the "normal" wear. Both knee stacks needed to be changed or fixed, the fabric was ripped up pretty bad. And I will need to change the boot straps soon. That's no big deal as this can get fixed pretty easily and I got them for a very good price.

However, it made me realize that if I ever want to buy something from them again, I would ask more questions/pictures of the product (they only provide one pic on eBay, it doesn't allow to really see the shape of the item). Obviously, if they're not helpful doing so, IMO, that doesn't show much care for customers.

I just wish they would open a store in Alaska. It takes for ever to get anything from any store in Canada to Alaska.

I dont think your experience with Goalie Hoeaven was indicative of their service and support. I've been a customer of theirs for over 3 years and I've never had any bad experiences with them, I think your brother's case was just a misunderstanding or something because I highly doubt that THR or Goalie Heaven would allow one of their customers to be treated in such a fashion on purpose.

I totally agree. Dana has always been tip-top with me. Always answers emails, and is good to deal with. I think you just picked a wrong time.

annnnd the auction ended, and he never got an email from Goalie heaven.

I wonder if they'll even respond with some sort of explanation, or if they just delete them.

sounds like a bit of a misunderstanding where the one guy who handles email/ebay issues was out and the associate who answered the phone didn't know or didn't care...

though.... the one time i checked out the store (in person) i was not at all impressed with the guy "helping" me. the guy was patronizing and curt, and it's not like the store was busy.... who knows - maybe it was just that guy...

That could have been a miscommunication in your brother's case, but my first (and only) experience with Goalie Heaven last September led to similar dissapointment due to poor communication. I ordered a Hackva mask and Summit trap and was told the Hackva would come in in 2 weeks, the trap in 8. 8 weeks later and nothing. I tried calling and kept getting a "keep waiting" response. I ended up having to deal with Gabe directly to get my mask and it wasn't until December when I called back yet again about my trap that they finally took the initiative to contact TPS. I will give them some benefit of the doubt in that both Hackva and TPS were experiencing backups at the time I ordered, but I still felt the blunt responses I received showed they didn't care about my situation now that they already had my money.

That's just my experience though. There's obviously been tonnes of positive experiences which is why I delt with them in the first place. That said, I've since dealt with Dukes and will no doubt stick with them over Goalie Heaven.

DISREGARD THIS POST. I got my stores mixed up. This didn't happen with Goalie Heaven.

One thing that absolutely drives me nuts is their EBay listings. If you do so many ebay sales, then get a digital camera and take a few pictures.

Whenever they have pads listed, they just have one small picture of the face of the pads. And that is it. Post 5 or 10 different pictures to begin with and then you wouldn't have people emailing you for them.

I bought pair of pads from then way back, and there were several rips that were on the front of the pads, which is what the picture was, but you could not see them on the small picture.

Another time, I remember on here, someone bought Velocity 2 pads from them on ebay. Of course, they only had a picture of the front of the pads. When the guy received the pads, it turned out that they were with mods. One mod was that there was no balance stabilizer like on stock Velocity 2 pad, instead the insides were like on Velocity 1 pad (aka Cam Ward mod). Needless to say, I don't know about that guy, but I would have been disappointed.

So the key point of my message: Post more pictures in you ebay ads of USED stuff.

So now it seems this thread has turned into a GoalieHeaven bashing.

Why don't you post in GHs Forum on here ??

Maybe somebody from their will answer you problems.

Dana isn't even around.

Pretty weak IMO.

New thing out, telephone.

Yea, yea ,yea, so if you didn't hear back you should have called.
