Importance of skate size?
Well, I've been using my older brothers skates for 3 years now, they are size 14 5e. Since the skate is falling apart after 13 years of use, I'm getting, for the first time ever, a new pair of skates.
We walked into source for sports, and I got fitted. Turns out I am an 11 4e. Im getting either rbk talon, easton synergy, mission fuels, or ccm vector. I'm just curious how much this will improve my skating? And will it be a big difference going from such a large skate to one that fits?

Obviously, a better fitted skate will be better. (At least it should be) But, are you getting goalie skates or player skates? Because the ones you mentioned are for players.

Well, these are player skates. I still havent saved up enough money to buy goalie gear, so I will have to wait for next season. I wouldn't be spending money on skates, but my CCM Tacks are rusted, missing screws, the blades are coming out, etc.(Not to mention it smells like something died in them)

it would be a huge difference for the better. if the boot is too long, your small foot has to control a larger blade which = not so nice results and can cause bad habits. A correctly fitting skate would improve your skating ability than a skate that is many times too big. taken from experience, i wear a size 7 goalie skate. i skate out in size 10s

Well, I already have very good technique(sp?) and I could skate as well as any player in house league last year, despite being 6"5" 300 lbs. Will the 2 or 3 inch less length really change much? I remember the last set of skates before these were a tighter fit, and since I like them tight it cut off the circulation to my foot.

for player skates you're gonna see a 50% increase in control. I can remember the day I upgraded to high quality skates from low quality skates. i felt like i was pavel bure out there!

They're players skates. Im hoping that by next summer I will have enough money saved up. But by then, I will probably want to spend that on my first car. =\
