Alternative to socks...

I'm currently wearing hockey socks under my pads. I obviously have my jock, with a girder belt over it that holds up my socks. Now getting the RBK 08 Pro knee pads, and that would be a 3rd girder belt around my waist.
What's everyone else wearing?
Maybe I could wear under amour legging or something?
I wonder if the legging would be damaged by the rubbing of the pads?
What could I use to hold up my socks instead of the belt and tape?

I wear the long nike leggings which work out very well. I could never get used to the feel of socks inside the pad, but its all about personal preferance. One thing to watch out is if you use butterfly a lot, the knee parts of the leggings get worn out and rip, but overall I find leggings very comforatable and effective.

I wear neoprene knee supports and soccer socks, gives the same coverage, but they keep themselves up and I don't feel cluttered in the leg area. . .

There are many companies who make a very decent runners tight or legging. They have several benefits which make them a much better option than sweat pants. I find the pads rotate exceptionally well due to the shiny material (Lycra) these things are made of. They also wick away the sweat so your legs don't get cold, and I prefer the M.E.C. brand because they have a thin layer of fleece on the inside. They also last. I bought two pair the last time I was downtown at the M.E.C. (Mountain Equipment Co-Op) which was in the Fall of '06, and they are still going strong.

Nike and U.A. both have several versions of the same thing as well. Any good sporting good or running store will have exactly what you need.

I wear these:

Power Hockey Jock Long with BioFlex™ Cup

What I did was to take one of the cups out of my double cup jock and have a second one with the leggings. Seems to fit a little better that way for me. I find them quite comfortable.

Under Armour now has a full length version velcro tabs for socks.

Under Armour ® | Men's HeatGear® Hockey Compression Legging | 1100294 | $54.99

The UA does not come with a cup however.

Hope this helps.

try wearing a players jock(without the cup) to hold up your socks, your regular goalie cup over or under that and your kneepads. or just wear UA compression stuff.

I would assume that under armour and shock doctor stuff would be too flimsy and rip really quickly. Anyone have experience with this?

I quit wearing the hockey socks a long time ago. I use the Under Armor Heat Gear leggings. Durability is great, although I'm looking for a good source for some inexpensive 3/4 length runners tights to replace them.

Much better than hockey socks! Playing 4-5 nights a week, 2 pairs have lasted well over a year.

The heat gear is actually really thick. And still skin tight. Mine is like 8 years old and has very little wear. Only one thin spot in the knees and some stitching on the waistband
