What C/A should I buy ? (Need Help) ;)

Hey guys i just wanted to ask for your honest opinion on what C/A i should buy next weekend, I need something Pro/NHL spec to replace my old DR so called "bulletproof" C/A. The range i am looking for is around $400 nothing too far below or above that mark, I had a look at the X-wing O-zone Layer C/A and i really liked it but i found out it was last years stocks and places aren't getting new shipments of them so i have to find something else.
I'm looking for something very durable and the least bulk with the most protection,
Let me know what you use and if it is worth a look at thanks.
I'll post a full review after i get a chance to use it after if one isn't made for that product

Dont be silly!

Do not ask people what to buy for yourself. Research the models you are interested in and then search for reviews. If the review is not available then ask if someone has one.

Opinions on equipment are like asses, every one has one. This is a purchase for you and you only. The price range you listed gives you allot of options. Users will mention everything from Vaughn, Brown to Itech.

Do some research on your own don't ask people to hand feed you information!

Go to the store and try them on. What works for one person might not work for you. I dont want you spending money on something because an anonymous person recommended it and them you come back bitching and complaining because it didnt work for you.

You don't understand man I've been to like 5 stores and they all feel the same but i don't know what a "Good" C/A is supposed to feel like since the only one I've ever had was awful. So basically this thread was for people to mention whatever they liked and i would look into any of them that caught my attention
I understand what your getting at though
What C/A do you you currently wear

Agree with the 2nd post. Nobody can tell you what you like and feel comfortable in...also, its very different from just trying the C/A on, to putting it into game situations. Mobility, weight, comfort, moisture retention, protection, etc.

I'm using the Heaton Helite Z Pro and I really like it. Have felt one shot to the upper arm area but thats been it, for 6 months. I modded a little more protection into where I got the stinger and in the heart area and it's been a tank (without the weight) ever since. Good luck in your search.

uh i wear a RBK P2 C/a...yes the green one -_- i hope it doesnt fall apart like people say.
I really like it but it really does get pretty hot. The protection isnt a problem and i havent felt a stinger ever since ive been playing, even in my *******/Boddam Air C/A. Uhh

Try them on and see which ones have the best mobility, be sure you can actually touch your hands to your face.
Bring your gloves or try gloves there to see what range of motion you have with them on

It all comes down to person preference.

I wasn't referring to the PS2 you'd have to be pretty dumb not to know they're everywhere

you cant realy beat that price...thats almost disposable! and the name Heaton is pretty respected. i would check out the Brians DX2 pro. i just bought a Brown JB2200, but the DX2 came in a close second for sure, all around, its a realy sick unit. i think the price tag is around $500-550 cdn. though. its worth a look.

I agree with everyone else, that you need to try and see what feels good. But I'm all for people giving their 2 cents, isn't that what this site is for?? I use a TPS R6 and it's great, had it about 6 months now and not a single stinger. I use a large body with medium arms, a funny combo I know but it gave me good coverage and mobility. Hope this helps.

I agree also with the other guys - all pref...but of course you did come to the board asking for advice...so all I can give you is this...I use a V3 7500 and I love it. Had a V2 - loved that too...around your $$, maybe a little higher (look around). But it's great and it's Pro. Take it for what it's worth to ya

The heaton sounds good and all but for $150 I'm a bit worried, i practice with various people even OHL and other junior league players although I'm only in midget and they shoot HARD, The Brains C/A sounds good as well as the V3 because i have V3 pants and i couldn't go back to anything else if i tried right now.
Saturday is the big C/A devoted day where i stay in the hockey shop until i find something that really stands out and i must buy, but I'll put all the ones mentioned into consideration, One of you guys said you had a large Chest with Medium arms this sounds like a good idea although i fit a medium chest but i find sometimes the arms are either too tight or loose, would this be considered a "custom order" ?

Just a quick response to the first part.

I face junior players all the time, along with ex-nhl and have taken a few shots from current nhl players and it didn't hurt me. Of course your going to "feel" it, as you should, but not one ounce of pain was involved. Don't let the price tag of the Heaton fool you!

Brown 2200 ! People have found them for under$500(Wesco). They are actual very inexpensive if you factor in how long they last. If it's more money than u currently have...then save longer. Unless your c/a has spontaneously combusted just use it a bit longer til u have the money to get the c/a that u want. I've seen all the popular c/a units out there and the Brown is head and shoulders above the rest.
With the Brown....you can concentrate on making a save rather than bracing for pain on a high hard shot. JMO
