How do I make Vaughn pads just like P2 pads?

Hello:

I am in a jam. I was wearing all RBK gear as of yesterday, and someone stole my P2 leg pads out of my car. The team i am playing for is ordering me new pads, but i am not getting RBK again. I am going with Vaughn. I am 6'4" 190 lbs. and am 19 years old. I really do not know anything about Vaughn equipment, however my team gets very good deals with Vaughn. Does sizing between RBK and Vaughn differ? I also want to know of mods that i can order on my new pads. I want them to be as close to RBK P2s as they can.. Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

If you get good deals from Vaughn, give the rep your ATK measurement and your knee to thigh measurement and let them build them for you. Tell him you want the pads to be like the P2 and he'll tell you the mods you need to make that happen.

You don't want RBKs anymore, you want Vaughn instead...yet you want your Vaughns to be like your RBKs...

I know price can be a factor, but if you're insured for theft, you could get some RBKs again...a thought.

Thanks for the advice thus far.. First off, i still like the RBK pad, but if i have a team willing to buy me custom Vaughn pads, its hard to refuse. Yes, i was insured for my stolen gear, but again, if i can save myself the cost of new pads, then i am going to do it. I wasn't looking for people to question my situation, but rather just for some help on what mods i could have done to vaughn pads to make them similar to RBKs.

You came to the wrong website if that is what you were after.

As for being insured, yeah he could get new ones, after he pays the deductable.

So its either, get free pads and not be a douche about it realizing he can save his team money by going through someone they get a discount from (so get them in your normal pad specs)

or spend money and get his same ones.

u need to open up the leg channel ALOT stiffer foam throughout the whole pad, no breaks on the outer roll. shallower boot and stiffer foam in the landing gear and mabe trim the back of the calf landing area.

The easiest thing to do is tell the Vaughn rep that you want the pads to be as much like the P2 as they can make them. They build pads for a living, they should know what it will take. Tell them what you like, and they will figure out how to build it.

The basic design of the two pads is quite dissimilar, so they will have to figure out what internals will make the pad perform similarly to the P2. As for the externals, it's as simple as opening up the leg channel, flattening out the boot and shin, and having the straps sewn into the outside bindings.

What you want to ask for is exactly what i have on my v2s. A wide open leg channel. One single knee block all leather straps. No knee lock. Its a pretty deadly set up i guess. Its the closest a vaughn pad is going to get to a reebok.

Uhm here I'll list what I know will make them more like p2s:
-RbK style open leg channel. Specify RbK because they say the v3s open but its like in between
-No breaks in the outer roll
-2 internal breaks (or 1 below the knee if you want that)
-Higher density foams to make the pads stiffer
-Stiff boot
-Strap placement of your choosing (2 at the knee or 2 below, however you wore the p2s)
-Cut down the calf stabilizer 1 inch (the RbK one isn't as close to the knee)
-1 knee block with straps going through it

thats as close as you'll be able to get it regarding v3s

Or you can get epics with an open leg channel. They're stiff as is

Yeah, I have Epics and I always kinda thought of them as Vaughn's take on the P2. No breaks and really stiff - strapping isn't as adjustable in terms of placement as the P2 but does have the big honkin' knee and calf lift you were talking about.

get the leg channel to not be as deep, that is the biggest difference.
