RIP Brian Heaton

I was informed this morning by a good friend in the business that Brian Heaton passed away yesterday of a massive heart attack.

Brian was certainly an innovator in our industry and will sorely be missed.

Condolences to his family and friends; RIP.

I heard the same thing, I was hoping it was not true or a bad rumor. God bless Brian and all our prayers are with his family.

Wow! That's an absolute shock! Condolensces indeed, and RIP to Brian.

The man will go down as an absolute legend. It would be awesome to see Brian's, The Hockey Company (Reebok/CCM; owns the Heaton name), or another goalie equipment manufacturer do a commemorative pad line in his name.

Sad news indeed... he was just awesome to talk to on the phone about gear. He came across as a super nice guy. He'll be missed...

One of my friends at Brian's told me about it this morning. They're all pretty much in shock. It certainly wasn't something that anyone saw coming.

I don't think many people even know how much Brian meant to the business and the sport. He certainly wasn't afraid to try new things and they usually worked out when he did.

This is truly a sad day for goalies everywhere.

I talked to Brian a number of times and found him to be an *incredibly* nice guy who loved the game although he never played net a day in his life. He truly was an innovator and will certainly be missed.

May he rest in peace.

RIP to an innovator in the sport. My fondest memories playing hockey were when I got back into the sport in my early 20's and I picked up a used set of Heaton gloves. the 1475 or something like that. It was awesome. I used those things till they fell apart!

Wow...just wow.

A legend and innovator. We are a better world of goalies that he lived and changed the position time and time again. The guy's work was simply timeless. I never spoke to the man myself, but if he was half a good guy as he was at making gear then it is a terrible loss.

That just sucks.

Having had the fortune of working with him while at TPS, I completely agree with you on this.
