Hackva

Just wore my new mask for the first time. Wow... this Hackva is heavy. Didn't think it would be an issue, but my neck hurts me a little this morning. During the game, as my noggin began to get sweaty, I noticed it slid down my head a little, and was a bit of an obstruction. Bah, I think I'm going to post this on the classifieds. It's incredibly built mask, but I don't think my fat head is made for it. It's true what the rest of you are saying, it is good quality mask and built like a tank.

Was thinking about getting an Itech, but it seems most people agree there not as good as the Hackvas unless you get the pro model? The Envy is average? I tried on the Envy, was impressed with the light weight and how it felt (from what I remember anyway).

Check out a Sportmask. They are very light and really well built. Great sight lines too.
Took a real howitzer off the noggin last night, and just laughed about it. The ref and the guy who hit me rushed right over, but it didn't faze me at all. You may need the XL model.

I agree with you that the Hackva is too heavy.

What mask were you using before the Hackva?
I think the perception of any equipment changes greatly depending on what you were using before.
The Hackvas seem to be a bit on the heavy side compared to other masks in the same class.

The store I work at sells more Hackva's than anything...

It's a fantastic helmet, a great value and they are amazing people to work with.

I would say, get used to the weight because for what you pay...The hackva is beyond the best helmet on the market.

Since you live in Pickering,ON, why don't you set-up some time with Gabe to visit him at his factory in Scarborough. I'm sure he would be happy to assist you a fitting.

Might be worth a shot instead of putting it up for sale right away and losing some $$$ on the re-sale.

Interesting. When you say fitting, what can be done since I've purchased the mask? They can't modify it to fit my melon can they? Oh if I only I were in the NHL and everything was custom fitted!

If it slides down your head, it doesn't fit right. This can be corrected by modifying the thickness of the foam in the right places or putting silicone implants into your head. Or, it might just require adjusting the straps.

Exactly that. Gabe sent me extra foam with my helm in case I needed some adjusting. Try that route first as it could save you some money.

It's nothing compared to implanting silicone pads in your head, but you have to go to his place to have that done.

Sent me foam too...

If the mask is sliding around it may not fit correctly, but if you think it weighs too much (aprox 5 oz more then my 1200 Itech) then maybe you should consider a sportmask ? or 9XX Itech both are incredibly light from what I have heard

Hackva

Hackva seem to go between $300 and $500.

Gabe is incredible, going to meet tomorrow and perhaps fit the mask better to my head. So great dealing with him.
