Looking to upgrade to VK7

I'm really quite impressed with what I have read about VK7 gear and I am thinking of upgrading to a full set of VK7's from my XPulse 6.0 pads and 8K blocker and glove.

Does anyone have any other recommendations for a custom set? The Vortek deal on eBay looks too good to pass up.

Any comments, advice or recommendations will be helpful. Thanks!

VK7 Custom made on ebay for 699

If you really want VK7, which I wouldn't blame you if you did, then I would suggest jump on that. It's $700 for the whole set and they will make it to your liking and colors.

I see that you mentioned the ebay deal and it is by far the best deal you will get on custom gear. There are many people out there that make customer gear. Smith/DS/Viper/PAW/etc... But if I were to get a full set right now then that deal would be it.

I just received my new set that I bought from Ebay. I paid $899 and it sitll is the best deal out there. If I had to change something, I would have ordered them with soft boot on the pads and no thigh wraps. I picked the extra sized pocket on the glove and it worth it. The palm seems protect enough so I don't need a pro palm. That's my opinion.
One thing for sure, the VK7's are totally amazing. The set is crazy lite. The catcher is simply the best I had. The block is well designed and the pads are great. Lite, slides well and look amazing. The construction is a real pro quality, just as good as anything you would buy for $2000 and more in store (and it still not custom...). Go for it !

I guess the stiffness of the pads is probably the thing you would have to get use to since they are very stiff, specially if you're coming from Sr X-pulse... Other than the soft boot, an extra break or thighrise strap would help.

Good luck !

I could swear that there's a WHOLE FORUM on this subject...

Vortek VK7's are the best buy on the market for the buck though. You wont find anything even CLOSE to the same quality for the price. I wouldnt call it as high quality as Vaughn, Itech and Eagle etc but I would call it pretty damn close and youll spend about $1000 less or more.

I almost pulled the trigger on one of those auctions. I couldnt wait 8-10 weeks, my pre-season starts in 2 weeks.

For the price of a set of Vaughn 7400s' after shipping, you get a FULL set of VK7s' whats not to love??

I just went with one of those ebay auctions and its well worth it, if you want to make any mods it will cost you, my mods have come to about $300 but even with that added on its still below the cost of some basic vaughn gear and its all custom.
Their customer service is second to none, Marc is a great guy to deal with.

Its worth checking out the vortek forum for more info

The Vortek gloves and pads are equal to or superior in materials and workmanship to anything made by any manufacturer. I base this on stuff Nate has owned: Brown gloves, Brian's Thief gloves, Vaughn V-1 and V-2 pads (including Ray Emery's), Eagle Infinity pads that were Tomas Vokoun's. He's had Vortek VK-2, VK-3 and VK-4 gloves, now uses Vortek VK-7 gloves and pads.

Design features are matters of personal preference, of course. He likes the VK-7 gloves and pads so much more than anything else he's ever had that I've ordered another set for him because the promotional price they're running is so good.
