vaughn Knee lock system

Hi

I'm having a little bit of problems with my knee lock system on my vaughn v2. I have removed the thighboards and I am currently using the RBK grey kneepads from 07/08.

The problem is that it feels like I am falling of the knee stack. Not always but usually. So just wondering if anyone has the same problems with their knee lock and if they have any solutions.

i occasionally have that happen to me, i think if i tightened my boot strap it would solve the problem, but then it would cause range of motion issues with my feet, etc.

if you have 1 of the straps running directly behind the knee just tighten that on enough to keep it some what snug but not too much to prevent rotation.

Great tips. I too use the grey RBK knee pads but I am using V1's, not V2's but I still have this issue. I am going to try the boot strap solution tomorrow to see if it works, hoping it doesnt affect rotation.

Do you use the knee lock still? Is the elastic getting loose?

What i find in many pads is that there is a gap, big enough for an extra landing, between the knee stacks/blocks and the inside knee flap of the lock. The only brand to have addressed that that i`ve noticed is Koho/RBK (DS also has it on their 993/994 series). The made the knee cradle wider and extended the inner knee flap to meet the landings, and this creates a flat surface to land on, otherwise you have a short knee flap that causes your knee to roll/slide out onto the edge of the landings.

You might want to tighten up the knee straps of your pads a tad to see. You can also add 1 thin knee lift to see if it helps level things up. Or, you can do what i did on my V1s...cut out the knee lock altogether and simply tighten up the knee straps. I wear JB2100 knees, no boards or guards and they work fine.

Wow... I thought i was the only person who thought this too. It drove me nuts with me old Helite Z pros. If the gap between the knee lock and the inside edge of the pad is bigger than the lift (or the knee lift is smaller than the gap) it creates like a downwards ramp which causes you knee to slip off the landing gear. That is why I cant stand Velos with the stock knee cradle.

Great suggestion. I will try it out.

Today I tightened my boot strap to see if that would help and it did. My knee only slid out once. However, I had pad rotation issues so I'm scrapping that "solution". I'd rather my knee slip out of the cradle then my pads have a hard time rotating.

Thanks for all comments and suggestions.
I've moved the strapper that goes from the knee stack a little bit higher.(With vaughn you can just replace them at anytime).
And that little thing made so much difference now I never fall of the knee stack
