Fixing Goalie Stick

OK I just got 3 goalie sticks from a guy one is brand new the other 2 work but not the greatest shape. What I am wondering if anyone has refiberglassed a stick? The one stick down where the blade and paddle meet there is a small chunk of wood taken out, there is a slieght flex to the blade. So I figured re wrap it in fiberglass to strengthen it. And before you say just go buy a new one, that is tough right now. Two mortgage payments makes it tough on money, as soon as the one house sells then it's a different story. But for now I am playing with what I have. So was wondering if anyone has fixed a goalie stick.

The way that I fixed my sticks is that I would tape where the stick is the weakest at with a thin layer of duck tape but wrap it really tight. It always worked well for me.

I've fixed many sticks. Never fiberglassed one yet... yet.

Typically I repair cracks and the like with wood glue and c-clamps.

I've re-pollyed the shafts that have been damaged.

I'd say do it. Can't hurt. Waaaaaaaaay cheaper than new sticks. Jesus, some of re-glued sticks held on forever.

Damn, my secret is out! As Red Green says, "If the women don't find you handsome, they can at least find you handy."

I just repaired the heal of mine with some liquid nails and C-clamps. After it hardens, you can sand it smooth. If the fiberglass is peeling, just apply some wood glue and tape it up. I tend to use one stick at a time until it dies completely.

I couldn't pass up 3 goalie sticks for $40, the guys just wanted to get rid of them. As I said the ones was almost new, the other 2 need the work. Since my father just got done building his boat, he has a bunch of fiberglass. So I will try it on one stick and will let you know how it turns out. Try and get some pics of it also.

I've carbon-fibre and reglassed 3 of my sticks. I have pics of 2 that are still alive, and not only will it repair the stick, but extend the life. It adds weight, but if you use a lighter stick it's not a big deal.

The first one was a CCM Vector 6.0 that was used for 4-5 months of mostly roller hockey and broken in the blade/heel. Fixed up the blade, reglassed the paddle too, and it lasted another 6 months!

The two I have cf'd and glassed now are Vector 8.0 Belfour pro returns. I did them up because it's a pain to find more of them new and I love them, plain and simple. I might do my Turco RBK P1 return when it loses it's pop, we'll see.

I'll try to get pics up ASAP, which will be in a few days.
