Chin cup yes or no

I was just wondering if any of you guys or gals dont use the chin cup on your mask. I find the It feels better with out it.......on my new mask but I haven't played a game with out wearing it. Any comments are welcome. I am playing in a very competive league where slap shots are allowed but no body contact.
Thanks Bill

i have never liked the feeling of a chin cup, strap, or sling... I like to have my face right up in the cage. so, i dont wear one. that being said, i have taken a few ringers to the face/chin area that left me wishin i had been wearing something.

you may want to try a search too, i know this has been discussed in many threads before and you're probably gonna get flamed for not doing that before posting a new thread.

I've added some foam into my cheek area so that I could wear my mask w/o a strap. But it is more because the mask I have has a ****ed up chin cup that was way to far away from my chin to work so I just cut it out

chin cups

i've tried both cause i heard that my helmet would be more comfortable without it. but i like having it. i prefer the fit and the feel of the helmet with it. Maybe its subconcious and it makes me feel safer i dunno. On a side note i grossly pop my chin cup up and chew on it between wistles and such.
the helmet i have in my avatar is no longer the helmet i use

I keep my chin cup in my mask, but feel that it's not a necessity. Up until getting my new mask, I've always used a chin strap. But I actually had the strap around the top part of my chin to keep the mask from riding down my face. I may continue to do that if I ever get around to getting a new chin strap.

Ok this sounds bad but I don't get what a chin sling is. I would want to see a pic of how it goes around the chin

Search is your friend. Lots of threads on both this and chin slings.
