Calf Wedges

I just bought a new pair of V3s that have calf wedges and I have never had them on any of my pads before. I have only worn them once and find the feeling of them to be an annoyance. How have pepole felt going into pads with calf wedges when they previously didn't have them, I know I have I only worn them once but I wanted to know how other people have adjusted to this and if they kept them on or taken them off of their pads?
