I've also heard the masks are now being made overseas as well. I don't know one way or the other if it's true or not, but I do know from several sources (and none of which are Dom for that matter) that the Bauer masks being sent out at the moment aren't holding true to Itech's quality of old. The masks seem a bit more cheaply and the holes are completely off. This is coming from trusted people who handle the masks, so even if they aren't being made over seas it would lead many to believe they are. It sounds like Bauer needs to get some quality control in there regardless of where they're being made.

I've also heard that they were putting WHL and OHL level goaltenders in NV7 masks last year. These masks from all my research were never made with this skill level in mind and were apparently breaking. Very dangerous stuff! I've heard this type of service and quality has been turning some pros off.

PS: JR Check your email/PMs

I have seen Dom's masks, they are very solid and I would certainly consider owning one myself but in reality, the way you and a few others come off on the board, you are likely doing more damage than good for Dom's potential business by being so aggressive in the manner that you come off in.

If you hate the 960 and 9600, hate them, make your point and move on. It always seems to be the same BS with masks up here, everyone is well aware of your stance and people know it won't change and they get it. It is up to them to decide if they want to look for the flaws you have uncovered on these masks and make a judgment call for themselves. It is their money and their heads and if people have differing opinions on the product than you do, does that make it wrong? No, not at all, it is just their opinion and their choice.

I don't wear an Itech/Bauer mask, in fact, I don't even wear a mask that we stock. Why, because I found a mask maker that I like and trust and choose to use his lid because it works for me. If Dom's lid works for you, great, enjoy it, I am sure it will more than protect you and serve you well.
I'm actually not speaking for Dom in any form/function...I'm actually speaking for myself...I exist in a fashion that's entirely damaging to myself if...any way; at all.

That being said, Lord stated something that's absolutely false...The relationship between Bauer and Pro's Choice has changed and unfortunately, we live in a sport of re-branding...So, it's unlikely everyone will know other than an announcement of sorts.

In "defending" as you so put it, the Pro's Choice...The 961 must also be put into light as many pro's have lately been turned off by the poor quality.

Below, lord claims they're still made in Canada...Whether they are or aren't is of no consequence...They're worse now than they were under Itech and quality is considerably worse than it was before.

That being said, the RX9 is a very successful and popular pad as is the X60...Yes, the XR100 will stay as will the other line but, you're cutting a significant portion of popular inventory from the retail consumer.

It's bad business.

I'm not Goyer, Mr. Brown or anyone at Bauer but, considering the current state of manufacturing and the quality of goods; that would be a very good place to start.

I know very well that Greg Goyer and Todd Brown are not custom molding masks. Where was that said or even hinted at?

Please let's talk about masks. The 960/961/9600/9601 are all being made in Canada, by the same company that made them for Itech as well as for Jerry Wright. There is no difference. Not sure why you think it is any different now that Bauer is the brand over Itech or Jerry Wright. Where's the logic?

Technically foam fitting is custom. Look up the definition of custom and you will see. There are different types of custom but at the end all custom means is made to order. That can be accomplished many ways.

Not sure why Pro's Choice would need to be defended. Who has said anything bad about him? If anything I would expect Pro's Choice to be glad Bauer bought Itech to gain better channels to put more guys in a custom mask.

It is a good move to make the masks overseas in the future. Hasn't happened yet, but I will love the day it does.

This puts into focus exactly why you had such a tough time getting a mask for yourself. It also shines a light on why you get hit in the head a lot. I think some self reflection would be extremely beneficial.

Please do not respond, I am not getting any deeper into this with you. I was told once by a friend to be careful with the battles you choose and this is one that truly isn't worth even what I have already written.

Lord of the Cage
I was correcting your misinformation. Bauer =/= Pro's Choice...Therefor rendering your entire argument before; inaccurate.

I also address multiple posts in each statement I make regardless of the post quoted so, I'm sorry if you felt the majority was aimed at you...it was a generalization.

Overseas does not =/= quality...It does = Profit.

Now; to me custom means...Custom. Made from ground 0, custom made for me.

For Bauer custom means: Taking an already crappy 961, shoving more foam in it and throwing it to said pro.

For Stacey (Even Stacey does this)//Pro's Choice: Takes a mold, makes a mask from scratch; fits it to your face...Throws it to said pro.

What's the difference? One is actually custom.

Now, my argument isn't necessarilly masks; I've worked/ordered done the retail gambit and have a great many friends that still do...My argument is aimed at Bauer in general.

The PM's I've already received pertaining to this issue and in particular your stance, Lord...Leave me to believe; you could do better than the personal attack above...but, unfortunately it seems to be all you're capable of.

To Mike, I'm not against Goaliemonkey or any relationship you have...What I'm against is the current quality of a product that everyone claims is amazing when...It's beyond sub-par...Even below the par of it's previous incarnations. I am glad you look for quality as I do and thank you.

If the Bauer and Pro's Choice relationship has changed why not just said it? As far as I can see it remains the same. Pro's Choice makes the mask and its branded Bauer. Nothing has changed. Mason's potential new lid proves it.

If Bauer can produce a product overseas as good and better than something here and make more money doing so where is the fault? Truth be told the overseas Bauer gear is as good and better in my opinion than most and has been the most durable gear I have yet to own. Chris Mason used one set of pads and two sets of gloves last year. That speaks volumes and proves gear overseas is just as good and maybe better than what is produced here.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter what you or I think is custom, the definition says it all. Make to Order.

Not really sure what issue you are talking about but you throw it out there and I will certainly tell you what side of the fence I'm on.

No personal attack, just offering up an opinion on someone I know nothing about and only basing what I know of the person from what I hear and see. It is real easy to just go around throwing words together about people you don't know anything about. I have done the same as you in the past and it is a real easy way to put your foot down your mouth and kick yourself in the ***. Take a step back and think about that. One day you might see what I am talking about and it isn't fun when you feel like you threw a pie in your own face.

JR it has indeed changed. I spoke to Dom myself this afternoon and he mentioned it before I even saw any of this thread. I'm not going into details nor should Masked I assume since Dom asked me not to. However I will say is indeed not lying or false in his statements.

As for JR (aka: Lord) I don't see him attacking anyone here. You guys seem to disagree on things. It seems both of you are on different sides of the argument getting facts from different sides. Personally I find the truth to usually be in the middle of the two stories. I know JR and he's a good guy. He speaks how he feels with the knowledge and insight that he is given. He's not the type of guy to mislead anyone, and especially not for a supplier.

When it comes to overseas production or even custom production, I find everything has it's place as long as the consumer knows exactly what it is they're paying for. I own gear made in Canada, gear made in the US, and gear made overseas. I like all of it. As long as you know what you're paying for and what you can expect out of a product then it really doesn't matter where it was made. It all depends on opinion and getting your moneys worth.

For those of us who know Dom and have dealt with Dom, most should know that Dom and Todd have a great friendship outside of the business world. Also to news is coming down the pipe about Pro's Choice

Funny how that goes. When the sale first happened I made comments about the arragement changing. Oh well. Both parties I am sure will be perfectly fine in their own way.

All Masked had to do is say the arrangement has changed. Problem solved. There was no need to go into detail or off on a cloak and dagger tangent.

All I know is to date all the "Itech" masks I have that are branded Bauer are made in Canada, by the same company that has been making them even for the Jerry Wright era, and look, feel and seem no different than anything I have seen or had in the past. If that changes going forward, I am all for it. From a business aspect the Quality Control and reliability Asia offers is good in my books. I'd wear one, and still have a better paint job than you, lol!

I got your email, I will get back to you right away. I just have to take a look at my files.
