What about having one of the specialty cage makers make a clone of your currently preferred cage and extend some metal up over the forehead and about an inch off of the forehead like the old Jofa 387 cages, except with thicker bars? Then the pucks coming from the front would hit the extended cage rather than your old plastic helmet. They could probably even do it with entirely vertical bars above the forehead so a rising puck wont get stopped dead by a horizontal bar.
Every time I look at the non-387 cages on helmets and the current masks with the cages over the face and plastic covering the forehead I wonder why the cages are not extended higher to prevent pucks from hitting the plastic. Anyone know a reason?

I hadn't thought of those. Maybe those are the reasons.
Rather than considering it to be more weight than the unsafe ones, perhaps we should consider it to be as much weight as is necessary for a safe one.
Function over form?
Hey, if they got a sculptor involved perhaps the verticals could resemble devil horns or snarling warthog tusks. Considering some mask paintings, that may take care of form. As a second functional benefit, consider the new implications for opposing forwards of running the goalie.

Photos of a 437 cage are in this post: Chin Strap for SM-90

Where can I get replacement foam for an SK2000? I sent Nash Sports and DRE75HABS messages, but is there anyone else I might have missed?

Alloy Cages
I've ordered a sk2000 foam kit from them. Should be in my hands this week. I'll let you know how it is.

Ok, Thanks!
This is what I need to get foam for:
Nothing special, just an SK2000L with an HM50 style cage. The foam that was in it was pretty gross which makes sense since it had been in there for almost 20 years.
I'm really excited to get out on the ice with this thing, it's my first Cooper combo since I started playing in 1997.
(Sorry about the huge picture)

^^ Hope you still got the old stuff to use as a template for the new stuff.
I bought from NASH and the price was decent, shipping exact, but you have to cut the layout yourself.
*after you cut the vent holes, use 'AA' batteries to 'hold' the shape. A few days should do it, and then again when you notice the holes closing.

hahaha thats funny
i was about to post a pic of my cage but the pic of the hasek custom on olympiacomposties was made for me! i love that cage, best buy ive ever made. i also want to say that if anyone is going to get a cage to get it from that website.
i love the hasek custom i use now, and i only had to retire the hm30 i got from him because i ref made me! i loved that cage too
only complaint was when a puck did make it halfway through and stuck inside of it. i dont know how it happened, but i thought i went blind til it came out. i took the helmet off, and people saw it on the ice with a puck in it.
just like what happened to brian boucher

its a messier project with the olympia compostites custom hasek mask
he made it for me out of titanium, never felt a shot in it, the messier helmet is also great, even thought it does get scratched up and dented.

Please post some pictures once you get it, Chakal! How much did it cost you?
I have ordered rubatex foam from Goalie Heaven and do it myself but it looks like crap.
