airlite catcher: review
i recently received my brian's airlite catcher. i have used it in two games and it's awesome, i've come up with some cool glove saves with this bad boy. i custom ordered it so i could get it to match the rest of my equipment and to get it to fit right. the glove is red with black trim and white binding and lacing. the modification i had done to it was i had the breakpoint moved back. it took about 4 weeks to get the glove. here's what i think about it.
the glove is very light, which led me to the conclusion that that is the reason it is called the airlite. it is well balanced all over. there's not one part that feels awkward or different from another. because i had it custom made and had the break point moved back to accomodate my small hands, the glove has a very nice fit. it fits snugly, but not tightly. the interior feels great. i believe it is made out of the fake suede material used on the outside palm. this gives you a really good grip on the glove and prevents a whole lot of sliding, a definite plus considering my hands get rather sweaty during the course of a game. break in was quick and fairly easy. i had to get used to the glove first, but what do you expect when you get a new glove after using a totally different one for almost three years? my favorite part of the glove is it's pocket. the pocket makes the glove. as soon as that puck hits the pocket it's dead. i also like how the pocket is "long", if that makes sense, as opposed to my old heaton catcher. it's like the pocket is extended, so to speak. i also like the suede palm and pocket because now it easily gets puck marks, making it look like a very manly glove.
the only problem i have with it is shooting. im having a bit of a hard time getting used to gripping the stick with this glove. i don't think it has one of those shooter's channels on it like my helite IV had.
overall, the airlite is a great glove. it's light, well balanced, comfortable, and has a tremendous pocket. i would recommend it to anyone, and if it's too big just have brian's move the breakpoint back an inch or so and it'll fit like spandex bike shorts.
