Thanks, I'll definitely give the 08 model a look!

Does anyone know whether the 07 model is the same as the aforementioned Itech kneepad?

Believe it or not....I'm still using these old reliables on a regular basis. They have held up great.

I'm personally waiting to hear some feedback on the me vaughn v3 knee pads from a person over at goaliemonkey. I have these Rbk and removed the hard plastic shell which helped my knees but is now warping the knee pads. Will need a new solution in the near future.

plastic pieces

I heated my plastic pieces in boiling water and just bent them so they fitted the knee pad. it works really nice and i haven't got any bruises on my knees so far i wear a pair of socks over them so they won't tear on my pads

I picked up a pair of these a few weeks ago and I've had about 5 or 6 ice sessions in with them. I have to say these have done wonders for my butterfly. I had on Smith's thigh guards before but given the shape and design of the guard I've had a couple squeakers come in and get me on an exposed part of the knee. Thankfully no damage but I know it is only a matter of time. After the switch my butterfly is now sealed shut, my pads rotate much better, and I feel one 100% confident in my protection. This has been one of the best purchases I've made in a long time.

I have the opportunity to pick up a pair of these (with the hard plastic removed) for $25. I also just purchased a pair of 9k pads. I haven't had these on ice yet, but already I'm not liking the thigh guards that came with the pads.

So would it be advisable to pick up a pair of these (the RBK grey ones)?

Have you ended up replacing the 9K thigh boards?

i am gonna buy those thin asic wrestling kneepads and wear the rbk's for thigh protection.
I wear the Asics GEL wrestling pads, not only for the padding but to help support my knees as well. For thigh protection, I took the thigh pad out of my Bauer pants and laced it to the pad as a thigh guard. I laced it off-center so it'd stay in position better when down. No issues in a few years of playing...other than the Asics wearing out once.

Off-topic: I cut apart one pair of old Asics GEL pads. Yeah, the GEL is a 2" square right over the knee cap. The rest is just foam. That kinda turned me off buying a new pair. I have been looking at alternatives for when these need to be replaced, so far leaning toward a pair of Brute EXO's.
