Hey man I have one question for you, how do you feel the shoulder protection is in comparison to the 993?

I purchased it through Sports Replay,a local store, they have an account with Vaughn so I ordered it through them.

As far as weight I can't tell right now, I am at school doing "work" so I will weigh when I get home.

Shoulder Protection against the 993. I would say the Vaughn is alot better. The shoulders are larger and seem thicker than the 993. The one thing I noticed is that it is much easier to move in. There is good layering and I just feel alot better with this on then my 993.

After about 10 "ice times" it is just as broken in as my 993 but is still very, very protective, not really a suprise. I have taken alot of shots to the upper sternum and stomach and haven't had any pain or red marks. Those were problems with my 993. Also I would get the occasional stinger on the bicep and on the 7500 I have had zip, zero, nadda.

First of, I find it hard to believe, because ******* is better than Vaughn for LESS!!!OMFG!!

But seriously, have you had a chance to compare V3 C/A to V2/1? I am asking because when I was looking for a new C/A couple of years ago, I ordered Velocity 2 unit in medium, and it felt ungodly huge and bulky, so I exchanged it for size small, and that felt super small. So the bottom line I did not like the fit ot V2 unit. I got Epic -Medium, and it fit like a glove and I loved protection and mobility.

On V3 C/A I see some elements very similar to Epic. I just want to see if there is a great deal of difference between V2 and V3 c/a or is it just graphics?

How do you feel the downward vision is with this C/A?
Did you feel that it puffed out when you dropped?

Initially, I wasn't so sure about it when I tried it.

Let us know how it is working for you with that.

Its a medium, my height is 5'6 1/2 and wingspan is 66".

I have seen the V1/V2 C/A and it is really hard to compare something you have never worn, but it looks like the completley redesigned it. The V3 has fewer "blocks" in the stomach area. They are bigger and it looks like they re-did the back system, that is a guess but I am almost positive.

When I look down It is a littled puffed out because of the big sternum plate. Other than that I have zero visibility problems finding pucks along my pads. I think having it tied into the pants holds it more flush to my body reducing the puffiness.

Seriously? I played against a guy with a V2 c/a last Sunday and I got to see it in the locker room afterward. He only had it for a month and I couldn't believe how thin and flexible it was... it was skin tight to the guy and the straps were incredibly loose.

Great review...a couple of questions

Great looking C/A. I am in the market to change from Eagle Monster. I used to have the Vaughn 6000 and my biggest beef was the protection in the upper rib/arm pit area. I used to get hit alot when the puck tried to squeeze between my upper arm and my body and I would get bruises. In fact, my upper rib area on either side of C/A would be exposed.

So I went with the Eagle because the shoulder/chest floater has such good coverage that it protects this area very well. But it may be too big for me.

How is this new Velo for rib coverage? We are about the same height...what is your build? are you more stocky or more thin?

Also, what would you consider the main difference between the Epic and the Velo 3? I can only tell in pics, but it seems like the Epic has a bit more coverage...

Maybe its just my body, I was kinda between Medium and Small with V2 but with Epic Medium, I am dead on.

Wonger, go with a medium, I had to adjust the back pretty small to get it to be tight so you being 5'9 a medium should work.

As far as my build I would say I am alittle above average. The rib coverage is fantastic.
