I've always shopped there. I've never had a problem with waiting for a salesperson to get around to helping me and they have always gone the extra mile for me, and cut me slack when it comes to big ticket purchases. Most of them know me by name and have always said hi to me and everything.
.. maybe it's because I have boobs.

Ah Seinfeld...always a good reference.
Back on topic....My experience with Majer hockey was fair. I saw a mask I wanted to get on Ebay. I was fairly new to Goaltending so I had a lot of questions. I found that the answers I got were short.
Anyway I ended up with an Olie 9900. (I know, I know ) It would have been nice if he explained how unsafe this mask could be. I would have totally spent the extra to get a better mask.

Howie +
Howie is the only one that I deal with when I go there. I've dealt with him since the days of Just Hockey and his short stint with Hockey World. I find the others guys there to be too biased towards the products they have lots of inventory of. If you go in knowing what you want, you can usually walk out with a pretty good deal.

Good
I have been shopping at Majer Hockey since there days back at North York Centenial Arena. I was around 10 back then and I am now 16.
It is a great store, with great staff. Whenever I orderd something they made sure it was what i asked for, and I have never had a bad order from them.
One time i bought one of those WJD masks, and it was poorly made, and I went back and they let me pick any mask and I would have to pay the difference.
Personally I work with Fabian (not sure of spelling). I don't know if he works there anymore because I havn't been there since October. I personally think that he knows what he's talking about, and his opinion really matters to me.
I'm not sure about this Howie guy because I have never delt with him. I am sure he is great.
All in All Majer Hockey is a great store.

Haven't had great experiences there.
Go in, nobody wants to talk to you, they never have what you came looking for in stock, and like others h ave said, if you do find someone to talk to, they push whatever they have the most of.
They tried to get my son to go for a McKenny C/A. He tried it on, it fit him poorly and wasn't comfortable, yet they still tried to talk him in to it.
I live close by, but the best place in the northern part of T/O is by far the Goalie Crease, in my opinion.
Can't beat Roddy Rod

The place wasn't too busy so I waited patiently to be served. After being totally ignored for 20 minutes, I started waving my hands at their employees indicating that I needed some help. Nothing. I finally got pissed off and left.
Another time I went into their goalie section and tried on some Itech Prodigy pads. They seemed pretty good, but there was no one around to give me a price or answer any questions. I left and e-mailed the owner once I got back to work. The content of the e-mail was positive, and I told him what I was willing to pay for these pads based on what prices I had seen in other stores in this area. Nothing. Never heard back from anyone at Majer.
It's hard to figure out because there are so many similar stores in the Toronto area now. The competition for the consumers dollar must be intense, and they ignore someone who is in their store and ready to spend his cash. Hopefully their customer service will improve because they do have a good selection of goalie gear. I think their main focus is on skates however as I have never seen so many pairs of used skates anywhere else in my life!

Glad to see its not just me... I really don't get it, its like they don't want to sell anything. Its basically like a self serve hockey store, you walk in get what you need and pray that there is someone near the cash register.
There has only been one time that I had good service and I think it was Howie, he sold me my mask and was a great guy. Helpful and accommodating - class act. Basically the exact opposite of the majority of my experiences. The typical experience is you walk in and employees are nowhere to be found or they outright ignore you and carry on with personal conversations. You have to basically beg someone to serve you. Walking in there it almost feels like you are imposing on them, inconveniencing them and interrupting their conversations. One time I walked in and stood in front of two guys talking holding some gloves I had a question about - they decided to continue their conversation and I put the gloves down on the table and walked out. Amazing how little they care about a sale, even when it comes directly to them.
Another time I sent an e-mail asking for some more information on what pads they had in stock before I made the trip down, the reply I got said "come in on Thursday we are having a sale."
I've been about three or four times out of necessity because they tend to have stuff that a lot of your run-of-the-mill sports stores don't but I wont be going there again. A longer drive is worth it for a store that actually knows the meaning of customer service.

I live pretty close to Majer's but only go sparingly. However the owner (forget the name) seems to recognize me as soon as I come in as I've purchased a couple odds and ends there. Nothing too big, got two C/A's there, a dangler, and a jock. In my experience I had great service and everyone was pretty decent and knowledgeable. I'm the type who likes to be left alone until ready so maybe that lead to my positive exp. I've worked in retail mind you, so I probalby have a higher tolerance of retail staff then some others.
Another plus is they don't always try to upsell, rather they find what suits you better. Good for me since I play only recreationally and don't have very high demands (of deep pockets).

Anywhere can be hit or miss. Bought my son a Sportmask Razor in Dec. from Majer, also wanted the cage powder coated white, Joel liased with Jenn at Sportmask. I had very good service, good communication. Went there twice and worked with Dan, again a very good experience.

I'm not sure about the glasses, I have never seen him wear them. He is skiiny, with short dark hair with a little bit of grey. He's in mid 20's I believe.

Ordered a jersey from them (over Ebay), arrived quick, good price and the communication was good so..no complaints there but, i will say that i emailed them asking if i could order the same thing in black and ive not heard anything back from them 2 weeks later.
Just struck me as a bit odd that someone would turn down business.
Anyway, ill look elsewhere.
