GM "kipper spec" velocity
Got the "kipper" spec catcher from GM last week for my b-day. all giddy as with anything new. I havent bought a catcher since 1995!
the kipper spec replaces the OG T3500 vision.
with the smaller gloves means i am going to suck that much more. lol the glove is about the same size, the cuff is alot smaller, but actually pretty nice. I like the comfort pad that comes with the glove and best thing is that its removable unlike in the V3's. I almost bought a V3 instead.
pocket is smaller than my old T3500, but i moved some of the lacing around to add a bit more depth.
break-in, i have only used the glove once at pick up for about 1.5 hours. It feels pretty good getting softer, no where near butter, but in time.
no stingers but then again no one was shooting to my glove side this time for some reason.
its actually really balanced. i did manage to snag 2 pucks out of the air, and it was a bit difficult to feel the puck in the glove. the old glove you can totally "feel" the puck in the pocket. not this one. I will post a followup sometime next week.
thanks GM for getting everything squared away for me.

update:
second time out with the new catcher. I am still getting use to the feel and I need to get use to the catching surface. took a couple of pucks to the palm. not bad. in the old glove i would have been hurting. not in the new on.
one main thing to me is how the puck enters the catcher. in my old glove i would be able to "feel" the puck. (weight and momentum) there is no snapping of the wrist backwards, the glove is solid.
one issue i will bring up is that the finger stalls are too long, or either i have extended finger webbing. I need to mod one of the finger stalls its killing the webbing between my middle and ring finger. other than that, glove is pretty nice.
it seems the pattern of some of the material is the same. palm , and fingers.

EXACTLY
Just about any catcher I wear, this happens. Vaughn Velo 1,2 6000 T5500 all did it, I used a Exacto-Knife to cut the stitching and allow the stall to open up, then re-sewed it so the "rip" wouldnt get worse.
Only glove I never had to do it was my UL2

Very close, the Kipper is a modded V1, Tee allows it open up flat, and cuff is smaller

huh... contradicted yourself.... i know what you mean. its tough to cut a 400 dollar glove. but i will be cutting it soon!
how close is this one compared to the V1... I have no clue. the last glove i had was a T3500 visions. OG. that one came out prior ot the 5500 line was made.
what i really like about the glove is the cuff. its tapered on the inside. thicker near the wrist and thinner towards your fore-arm. also the padding is removable unlike in the V3's. I tried on 4 vaughn gloves before i bought anything. reg v2, t5500, GM T5500 with V3 graphics, and the V3.
I almost bought the V3 but i didnt like the wrist padding since it was no velcro'd in, and the double T, i just never been a fan of it. I should have bought when it was first release! thanks GM for providing this.
I tried the T5500, but it was just dfferent. no where near the T3500 or the kipper spec. it seemed to have this un-natural stuck open position. just odd.

Kipper Velocity
I just got the Kipper special myself after a disappointing trial of the RBK premier series. Just was not satisfied and i have been eyeing the Kipper Vaughn since goaliemonkey said it was coming out. I have used Brian's, Eagle, Koho, and RBK and the Vaughn gloves are by far the best set i ever owned. There is such quality in these gloves its unbelieveable. My glove is game ready now after 1 game, its like playing with a baseball glove. the inner palm is so smooth and the glove feels so solid. I think i am used to glove already because i am not far removed from my Eagle fusion which was a very open big glove. The cuff is defintely smaller the most gloves, i would think they took two of the 3 inches off the size in the cuff area. I also got the Vintage 7000 Velo 2 blocker. Its just night and day over the RBK. The RBK felt like i had a cinderblock on my arm compared to this thing. I have never had any vaughn equipment before and its a treat to try it now. I wish i didnt waste my money on my RBK's. They are on ebay if you wan to take a look. Black, white and silver pattern, cant miss them.

I actually got to use the catcher this morning.
Morning pick up. pucks were actually being shot to my glove side. I took a few to the palm. While in my OG T3500 i would have had to stop and shake off the stingers. The shots to the palm this time were felt, however no excruciating pain this time. By no means am i missing it at all! lol. I also took a couple pucks to the upper thumb area, oddly enough there is no twisting of my wrist yet due to the angle of the puck going/hitting the glove. its pretty nice.
One bad thing is that the cuff on the glove is so small that its starting to interfere with the lower section of the EPIC C/A at the wrist. I hiked up the wrist strap a bit and it seemed to work. It is a more difficult to shoot the puck turco style, but i will have to adjust.
i have also adjusted my glove hand position for my style of play. it feels broken in but not butter like my 13 year old glove.

Anyone with small hands use this glove? I've got small hands and I really like the looks of this glove.

whats small?
my hand measures 7.5" from the wrist to the end of the middle finger and 3.5" at the widest point, not including the thumb.
along with further playing, the irritation i was getting on the hand is not as irritating any more. as well as no more stingers!

Well i have what i would call NORMAL sized hands for a 6' person. I have personnally had no problem with the webbing as addressed in previous posts. Been using it now for about a month. It came completely broken in which was nice. Never had a stinger or not really. The web came already really deep which i like.
Interestingly my buddy got the 8800 epic glove at the same time i did and when i tried on the epic in the store i hated it and the pocket was really small, but after a month i tried on his glove again and it actually felt really nice once he broke in the breaks and the pocket. Basically if you're lazy the Kipper will be better break in wise for you.
We noticed that the main FEEL difference is because the epic appears to break (palm crease) in Two sperate spots simultaneously while my Kipper only breaks in one. Preference i guess.
i also got a matching Vintage 7000 prospec glove from Goalie monkey to complement the glove. Love the blocker. Thinking about doing reviews on the pair later when i have more time. Let me know if anyone is interested and that could help motivate me to write a review.
