When I was looking at the 7400 they seamed to be lighter then my 7500. Honestly the 7500 are veryyyy solid. To me the 7400 seamed a little different in the quality. Its still great quality though. I just have a problem with buying gear made over seas. I feel that gear made here is given that extra attention to detail. Also if there made in China they probably have some sort of lead material in them haha.

I was wondering if you could compare the jenpro used on your 7400 pads to the 7500. Actually since you only have the 7000's that will do. I know that the stuff used on the RBK 8K pads is not at all the same and I was wondering how close VAUGHN is with the material that they use.

Thanks,

Dave

Not meaning to start a debate/war or thread hijack or w.e. (I cant stress that enough) But i dont get how alot of guys on here seem to avoid gear made of seas like the plague. I mean it does the same stuff, with the same materials and using the same build methods. Oh and the people making them arent really that different now are they?
Most skates now are made over seas. But does that mean your gona stop buyin them and play in your socks?(mostly refering to ice here)

I best shut up now before i get drilled...more so.

Rant over

Davieboy,

As far as a comparison to the 7500's I believe it's the exact same material. I could be wrong but I did a fair amount of comparison in the store. The material looks and feels the same and it's the same thickness(you can tell by the extra pieces sewn on to cover the toe stitching). Hard to compare to the 7k's really...they are extremely beat up. It feels different then the 7k's but I'm not sure if that's because it is a different material or after 6 years of use the 7400 material will wear into what is on the 7k's. The 7k's also have cordura? on the calf wedges. It's sort of a really rough material whereas the 7400's have the same material on the calf wedges which appears to be the identical material used on the 7500.

Obviously I haven't lab tested this material or measured it to 1/1000 of a inch for thickness but to the naked eye it certainly looks the same.

When I talked to the guys at GM over the phone, they said that the exterior materials were the same on the 7400 and 7500, but the 7400 had sheets of foam inside and the 7500 had shredded foam inside.

Thanks for the info guys. That really helps. IT's good to know that you can get some high quality stuff from overseas. If the materials are the same it makes you wonder just how much money NIKE/Bauer is making on their ONE95 line of goalie equipment?

I have been able to use my 7200's in a couple of practices so far. I LOVE them. The durability is great and it is very easy to slide. It also seals up great in the b-fly. I think they are a great pad.

I'm begining to gain interest in the blocker but i'm curious about the new palm that vaughn threw on there. is it pretty stiff or is it soft? (thats what she said)

i heard that the pads are extremely stiff and dont bend well, did the straps keep the pads curved and for about how long? . great review!!

Yea they're really stiff coming out of the store. Pads spent two nights strapped down...that made a huge difference. Pads are good now, probably 90 percent of the way broken in after 6 ice times, few good nights of sliding around on them on my slide board and 2 nights strapped down. World of difference.

But yes, like any V3 coming from the store you could use then to break a 2x4.

you mention that you removed the thighboards in your review. I too was unhappy with them, and removed them. what do you suggest for knee protection?

well, if you compare the non-weave white on the 7500s to the 7400s, the 7500s have a cleaner color, and the 7400s have a slightly cream-colored tint. Thats all that I noticed.
