The gloves would look better if the orange was black.....and the black was orange.

hey, im new to the board as well as goaltending lol only a year under my belt

ive been using these really old vaughn visions with the shin rolls, and i want new pads. im wondering if these pads have a deadening effect on the puck? im absolutely torn between these or the koho 700. these pads come in my team colors but the koho line fits my style. help?!

I honestly wish I could help you out. But I have honestly not used these enough yet to speak of durability. But as for style and protection they are freakin awesome.

yeah okaay. well heres sorta my delema, my old vaughn visions deaden rebounds and i just cover them up, but i dont know if i want to change my style to redirecting the rebounds to the corners. i used the other goalies 8K's and i absolutely hated the rebounds they give off.

I don't have the 7400's but I do have the pro model so bear with me if I am a little off. I've found that the Velo's deaden rebounds better than any of the newer models that I have tried, but they really don't compare to how well my older Vaughn performed in this regard. I will never go back. But as a general rule (there are exceptions to everything) the old pads with rolls kill rebounds better. That is why some goalies (Toskala, Hasek, etc) still have rolls on their pads despite how much heavier they are.

yeah my 5500 visions are ancient man haha. but yeah ill gladly take the weight to deaden rebounds. so what your saying is that these velos would kill rebounds as well?

Edit" im more of a hybrid goalie, so stack pad saves and half butterflys all round. would thses pads fit my syle?

I never had the visions, I had the Legacy pads that came before that, so I cant comment with certainty. My Legacy pads deadened rebounds slightly more effectively. That said I think the Velos are one of the better modern pads for Hybrids (or folks like Nabakov wouldnt use them). But they wont be the same.

To answer your question, I found that all of my old save selections were effective using these pads. I half-flied, and two pad stacked till my heart was content without feeling like the pads were hindering me. But after a while I changed my save selection to use the features that my new pads offered. The pads will work for almost anything I tried, but whether you will like them more than your old pads I cant say. I am not switching back.....

yeah i get what you mean. its just that i cant butterfly slide in my visions. the inner side is like frayed and sorta rough so it actually grips the ice rather than slides. ive tried to lean it but its just impossible with these pads and actually hinder my learning of the more modern techniques.

sorry if my constant questioning is annoying
are the pads flexible? if i were to go down on the face of the pads, would the knee rolls come around and flex to still cover my knees?

Vaughn 7400 Pads .... Durability ??

Lots of very helpful information here to help anyone searching for new pads.
Could ANYONE that has these pads please let me know how many times you have played in them and how they are holding up? I have asked this question in the past as well as other members but for some strange reason no one has posted a reply.

Thank you for your help,

THE GATEKEEPER

Freezing the puck

Did some the owners of the 7400 glove record any problems during freezing the puck. I just tried mine for the first time on the ice and it doesnt ''sit'' on the ice properly so the puck can get outta the glove. But i can feel an improvement with the better break in and i think that pancake status will completely solve this problem. But the position while the glove is sitting on the ice properly seems to be uncomfortable(i came from int dx2 glove and i dont remember problem like this and the freezing position was much more natural and comfortable).
Any response will be helpful. Thanks.
