Vaughn Epic 8800 Glove Review
First off, It's 1000x better than my Itech 7.8 X-wing. I liked my 7.8 but it was starting to fall apart and I was starting to feel more of the shots, so I decided, after quite a bit of thought and reading some reviews and descriptions, to just go ahead and buy the 8800. I decided on the Epic because I read that it was similar to the 5500 and the 5500 got good reviews (As well as Vaughn's great reputation).
Overall - 9/10
I would give it a 10, but I've only used it on ice for about a half an hour. I ordered it two tuesdays ago from GM and it arrived last tuesday, which was the last day of tryouts (Midget 16). I decided to use it for tryouts despite it being brand new, it opened nicely and it closed with little more effort than my 7.8, and I thought displayed my talents plenty the other nights (It helps that there were only three goalies trying out for two teams). Unfortunately, two drills into tryouts, I sprained my knee and that was that. Soo, while sitting around nursing my knee, I thought I'd get a head start on breaking in my new glove, and after about a week of playing around and tossing a puck around in it, it has great closure and is extremely comfortable. I just can't wait to get back on the ice and really test it out. I'm just glad I used it when I did. Oh, and I made the team.
I'll probobly add more in a few weeks when I really get to use it.

I'm using a 7.8 catch too.. how do you find the breaks? Similar? Really different? I really like the break in the 7.8/12.8 gloves. Also, how about in terms of grip and size of the inner glove area... I have really small hands and the 7.8 so far has been really good to me for having such a small hand.

The breaks are slightly similar but the feel is different, but it's a pro glove so that doesn't suprise me. As for grip, it doesn't seem much different. It has an inner glove that extends to just about the end of my hand and then there's a strap that goes from the glove over the back of your hand and then velcros onto the inner glove instead of looping back onto itself, which kind of distributes the tightness, unlike the 7.8 that has that one over the fingers that just squeezes the fingers and the "bridge" over the back of the hand that can only get so tight. Then it has the standard wrist cinch. I actually think the Epic can get a little tighter than the 7.8, but like I said, I haven't really used it for a full session so It's hard to compare grip during play.
La_passoire_can - A Canadiens fan, eh? Well there's only one thing I have to say to that, Go Flyers! It's gonna be a good series. I'll write more as soon as I get to use it more.

Right, It was easy to close right out of the box, which is why I didn't mind using it that night for tryouts, but it gets even better after only a week or so . Man, It's really starting to kill me that I can't play.
Here are some pictures I took for another guy, he wanted to see it opened, and closed. With a guest appearance by my pads.

Could you update every so often please how your glove feels because i am planning on custom ordering one with my V3 gear instead of the V3 glove.
thanks, ALSO, does the top "T" part of the glove go away from you when you close the glove?

I had the V3 Glove and I hated it. It was a pain to close out of the box. I love the Epic 8800 though. I have two of them one in home colors and another in away colors.

its definitely not a 90 degree break. the break is about 55 degrees. More similar to a 60 degree than a 90 degree though.
