That's a hard one. The UL series has the double break, the Matrix has the full flat face...i guess the 993/994 is the closest IMO.

Just an educated guess.

RX9 is more like the UL4/5's. They have knee rolls on them.

Sweet new pads Vinny. Is your season still going? Mine was over in march. Does th tension strap ever lift the thighrise off the ice creating a sort of DiPietro effect? I tried experimenting with the tension strap and I couldn't get a flat seal. (BTW how's it going for you and your family?)

Family is awesome 2 girls now... just finished 4 months of parental leave. I actually progressively got stupider with all the baby talk . The mental faculties definitely suffered.

Season is over. Goalie wise.... I ended up playing mostly just casual hockey with two groups. Ended up just being about twice every 3 weeks or so. But what I noticed was without the sleep deprivation from work and kids, my focus and hand to eye actually improved. interesting...

The reason for playing so little goal was because we won our Beer League where I play defense and that just ate up a ton of time with the playoff run (they pack so many games in) followed by a tourney for all the div champions in Kelowna.

The 994's... Funny you should ask cuz I got out for a 4th time last night and after 3 tries to get my RBK kneepads to work in the knee cradle I went back to the thigh wraps that they came with. The RBKS's were just too bulky... Laced the stock wraps in tight and left the one strap as loose as they could go.

Worked great. But now that that feels better I think I may have the tension strap too loose as evidenced by couple of time the slack got caught on the inside top corner of the leg pad itself. I'm pretty confident with just this last adjustment?
I'm gonna have them pretty much where I want them. So no I don;t have them lifting up at all If anything I'm probably not using the tensionstrap the way I should but even with that said the five hole shutting is still so much better.

One thing I've noticed though is that the pads are so light that when I charge out to play the puck. I just about throw my leg out and end up off balance. They are so light that I can really feel the difference in the goal bag.

Hey any chance you can make it to the Demo day at 8 rinks?
I wonder if Neomop or Myasses or maybe Dre can get there...
I've got a couple goalie friends not on this board that are probably gonna check it out too.

Side from all that
How's the offseason?
I still remember that lady at your tournament screaming YU WHAT?
and every one else yells back

YUUUUU KONNNNNN! or something like that.

Great to hear! We're finnaly doing better to, step dad got a huge raise over the past few months. Went from 14$ an hour to 19$ I finnaly found a job to, I start monday! Gonna buy some new gear this summer. I got stupider from babysitting with my friend for 3 hours......wow do treehouse shows put you to sleep or what!

I miss hockey. I'm starting to get out of shape so I'm gonna start jogging or something to keep my endurance up and I use my excersice ball about 4 times a week. (The ladies like abs as a bonus to ) I played pretty crappy in that 1 game I played over in Richmond because I had 2 hours of sleep. You can definetly notice when you're playing tired and when you're not.

Glad to hear you're team did good! Mine obviously did crappy. We got killed in the playoffs. Won 1 game against the girls (faced 3 shots!) and got wasted by the rest of the league. The season wasn't a waste though. I've improved dramatically over just 1 season, more than I ever thought I could. Hoping to make midget rep next year, since it's unlikely that I'll be moving somewhere with better hockey since I'm to young to live on my own and I don't think leagues offer a billeting to I'm screwed until next year.

Tension straps work even when very loose. (At least for me it did) I had my experimental tension strap as loose as it could go and whenever I butterflied the thighrises would lift like DiPietro. It annoyed the crap out of me. I took them off after 1 use, besides I don't need a tension strap to close my 5 hole. If I could find a tension strap like yours that wouldn't do that I'd use it. Never hurts to have the extra insurance.

I probably cut a good 1LB off my Summits with every single extra piece that could be cut off, gone. It's barer even that an RBK!

Oh god I wish I could. I didn't have the time to check out THS, but I did check out Cyclone Taylor but all they had were sticks. I'm back in Yukon and have no way back up there. I'm to broke to buy a plane ticket and I have to pay off my cellphone bill with my first paycheque. Where is 8 rinks anyways? Is that the place I played at before?

Offseason sucks, as I said before starting to get outta shape. I'm gonna work on that though. How's yours going? Yea that person was really annoying. If it was an NHL team I could understand the yelling but for a bantam house team and yelling all freaking game, no.

Good talking to you again!

I tried on vinny's 994's and they were 5lb's each on my digital bathroom scale. Really light for the size, although a +1 would be plenty for me.

When is the demo day? It doesn't seem to be up on thehockeyshop.com.

vinny: Great to hear your family's doing well. I'll give you a call tomorrow about the hackva? :P

zay: I watched a few of your games with vinny, I was the one in the other rink at 8am doing a goalie clinic, with the black/red/white Rbk's. Good luck with next season.

Zay: That lady was actually entertaining although loud... You should see my mom at my nephew's hockey games. SOOOO LOUD!
It's funny how a few bucks extra an hour changes your quality of life. Especailly here in the Lower Mainland where housing I think account for more than 70 % of your total income. Scary.

Kev: Swing on by or give a call. Nephew is out in Coquitlam for a swim meet and I may have to go pick him up. Not sure so call whenever... we'll figure out a time for you to check out the Hackva.

Are they 5 lbs really? They felt so much lighter. Maybe black is more than just slimming.
