Itech RX9 Catcher and Blocker Review

well I don't really know where to start, with this being my first offical review but i'll start with the catcher. Currently i owned a v3 catcher and like many people I was not pleased. So many things wrong with it and it just didn't seem like it was the same as previous gloves such as the 5500 and even the 8000 epic. So i decided to hit up my local hockey store and try on the RX9 Catcher that I had heard so much about, and needless to say I was in for a treat. This baby was game ready from the moment it slipped onto my hand.

I have since used this about five times and the first time i used it was in a AAA tourny where I faced 43 shots only to lose 3-2. The glove was perfect and did its job by not allowing and goals on the glove side, and also i might add that shooting turco style is very effective with this glove as I can really grasp my hand around my stick to get that flex of the stick.

Now to the blocker.
Well coming from the v3 blocker that I LOVED to death I must admit I was a little skeptical of trying a different brand. One thing that I liked what Itech did was that they were able to capitalze on vaughns only mistake on the v3 blocker by not having the binding on the surface of the blocker(which takes up space) and instead used that area on the side wall. The feel of the inside of the blocker felt identical of the v3 (which I loved) and the curve wasn't to drastic so it wasnt hard to get used to.

Flaws
The only minor flaws that I can point out are that with the strap on the catcher around the wrist doesn't pull as tight as I would like it but I guess I will have to just live with that. For the blocker I noticed some fraying around the cuff. Minor stuff but ill see how it holds up.

Overall I love the gloves and I don't think there is a better catching glove out on the market today.

Nice gloves. Did you leave in the wedge shaped air pillow on the blocker? Does it make any difference?

I tried to keep it in but I just kept on falling out so I took it out temporarily. I might try to sew it in or Velcro it into it so it doesn't fall out all the time.

What made you go with the RX9's as opposed to the 12.8's. Or did you not have a choice?

honestly it was pretty much broken in when I got it. But what O did to get it really loose was to play catch with it and to use some clear tape and put it around it for like a hour. But thats just because i like my gloves supper loose.

How do you think the RX9 compares to the 5500 trapper? I have an old spec 5500and I love the thing, except I'm looking to switch to the pro spec stuff and I liked the look of the RX9 for some unknown reason. How's the protection in the RX9?

ive never tryed on the 5500, but I have heard that the break is the same. As for protection i played in a AAA tourny this weekend and faced 80+ shots in 2 games from ohl draft eligable players and I did not get one stinger the entire time.
